We'll see next time he plays fullback, won't we?

Burt's played over 200 games. He's hardly got any significant improvement left in him.

perhaps some posters forget how well Burt was playing - career best form, leading NRL poinstscorer - in 2007 at fullback, when a then immature Jarryd Hayne whinged to Michael Hagan that he was bored on the wing and wanted to play fullback....??? Burt can be prone to be thrown off making tackles....i just think you live with that because what he does in attack and involvement in the game outweighs the periodic bad in defence and improves the team

You mean when burt dislocated his knee and did his medial ligament for Hayne to take over?

I am not a fan of moving Hayne into the 6 BUT this year at the very least our two best attacking players are Burt and Hayne. They need to have the ball in their hands more and if that means Hayne at 6 and Burt at 1 then so be it.

Forget Burt v Hayne because its not that, it is Burt at fullback v Mortimer at 5-8 or Robson at halfback or Matuia at 5-8. Our kicking game is much better with Burt and Hayne playing off each other, our organisation looks much better. Our defense may suffer but to what extent is important and as far as I saw last night Burt at fullback is better then other option at 5-8 and Hayne in the #1.

Next year we will have Sandow and Roberts and whether Burt or Hayne is at fullback would yet to be determined. Next year it will essentially be Burt v Roberts and atm Roberts is playing in NSW cup while Burt is in the nrl so if you pick next years teams today you pick Burt on form. More importantly, Roberts is capable of forcing himself to be picked and that may well be how it pans out.

Last night was easily Burts best game in a long long time, the sort of effort expected week in week out of a senior player.

The 1 on 1 strips and everything turning to gold for him was a bonus but the effort earnt him the rewards, if he puts in like this everyweek its hard to have a problem with him, but will he?

Fact is wherever we play Hayne he will strengthen that position, but is asking him to do whatever we need and play wherever we're weak yet still expect him to win us games that smart? Dunno. Worked last night , lets see what happens goin forward..

LOL He has never allowed the truth to impeed his agenda on previous occasions so I doubt he actually needs the advice
 Burty was very good at fullback in 07 till he got injured, Hayne took over and his game went to another level and we went to one game from the GF. Once again beaten by a team of Grubby cheats. Hayne to fullback at the start of 08 should have been a no brainer but we had Hages in charge

Anyone with half a brain could see that Hayne would do well at 6, just like he would do well at 1,2,3,4,5 and 13. He's just that good, i don't see why True Eel is patting himself on the back so much i still think fullback is his best posisition and next year with Sandow and Roberts in the squad he will be starting the season from there. Burty did well and ATM SK doesn't really have a choice but i'm sure Kearney would much rather him playing in his best posistion.

Agree with you on all points, I also only see it as a short term fix.

As for the bolded bit, who knows, but seriously, who really cares, the guy obviously has issues

On a different note , last nights 10 points takes Burty past Schifcofske and Fitzgibbon to ninth on the all-time pointscorers list , with 80 to go to pass Girdler. Eight regular season games left ,so if the boys can get on a pointscoring roll , he might catch him this year.

I hope he keeps racking them up for a few more years yet, he's certainly playing well enough, no telling where he'll finish.

i have never said it was Hayne v Burt

i have only ever said the switch would be better for the team overall, by better utilising both players, which is pretty much in line with what you are saying here

if you followed the news at the time, Hayne went to Hagan about playing fullback prior to Burt being injured

senior players such as Cayless and Hindmarsh were angry at Hayne at the time....i don't really care if people believe that or not - and i do NOT have any agenda about or against Hayne - he is Parramatta's greatest asset, i just want to see him (and Burt) better utilised for the sake of my team, so sling and arrow's and talk of me having issues and plotting agendas are schoolyard stuff and like water off a duck's back to me, so say what you like

This is what I have been saying from day one. But got the stupid reply leave hayne at 1, why weaken a strength to strengthen another posn.

Hayne at 6 with a good 1 is better than Hayne at 1 and a crap half such as mortz or robbo

As far as our attack goes I'd say everybody here would agree, with the caveat that while it might be better for the team, Hayne's own form will suffer.

exactly, well said yy cheng

and yes, everyone has used that tired comeback of weakening fullback etc, but honesty i think overall, this switch is actually strengthening 5/8 AND fullback

Well regardless if that's true or not the fact remains that Hayne was ONLY moved to fullback once Burt was injured.

from above....then everybody is in agreement and thus, no need for animosity
and i am very hopeful, if not confident that Hayne's form will not suffer, but only blossom
