It seems to me Brian loves Williams - he couldn't stop talking about him to the media after the one NRL game he played

Because even if Hindy makes 5 errors in a game he is still contributing greatly to the team.

Hindy also has 10 times the workrate of Burt (to be expected of course) but the funny thing is usually Burt makes as many mistakes if not more as Hindmarsh with 10x less workrate...is there something wrong here with these statistics or is it just me?

Burt makes these same characteristic errors over and over again. All players have bad games but there are some players who continually have bad games.

Mistakes wouldnt rule you out being in the top 3 players but its the overall influence you have in the match and as it is your opinion that Burt had a good game i am still in the opinion you could of had any 1st grade quality winger and given them Burts opportunies that were handed to him and you would of got a relatively similar result.

We'll end this on agreeing to disagree.

what have past performances got to do with giving out a 3,2,1 in a specific match? even noted Burt bashers have given him points for this match. if you think he had a poor game against the Warriors, then yes, we'll have to agree to disagree.

It was funny on the Sunday Footyshow, Freddy Fittler was guest host...when they were talking about the Parra game Freddy said something along the lines of....Parra are so lucky to have a player like Burt who can dart in around the rucks.....I almost pissed myself laughing afyer what goes on on this forum on a regular basis.

What's all this about arm-grabbing?

Robinson is an arm-grabber.

Morris, as great a game he had - go to the Eels VS Warrios Pics thread. There's a photo of him clearly tugging at a Warrior's jersey and arm.

Tim Smith is a serial arm-grabber.

Sure, they have to make more tackles than Burt. But it's still not an excuse.

Most players these days do have a tendency to grab arms - there were a number of times were Gasnier and Cooper grabbed their opponents' arms on Friday.

Ok, so Burt does it regularly. So does Eric Grothe. Petersen did it a few times. I noticed Williams had a few goes in his debut too.

I would suggest the reference was more to putting your body on the line.

Says it all IMO.......

Doesn't say a thing.

How can you compare a halfback's work rate to a winger's?

Also, I'm assuming that that means Burt made 2 tackles - he completed 1 and missed 1.

Sure, on the face of it it's bad - a 50% completion rate.

But what about Grothe? I'm sure he made more and missed more tackles than Burt.

He also made more errors which could have been more costly (offloading to nobody, dropping the ball and arm-grabbing, just to name a few).

Just once and for all, can we drop the name tags please?

No more of this "Burt basher" or "Burt lover" rubbish.

I am usually very critical of Luke Burt, because he is usually heart-attack material.

His game against the Warriors was not a 10/10 effort, but a 6, maybe even 6.5 out of ten I would say is appropriate.

After all, the day a winger makes 20 tackles in a match, we know the game has taken a turn for the worse.

Wingers are attacking machines. Excitement machines - I would sooner have a player with Eric Grothe's attacking skills and his defensive lapses than with the defence of Hindmarsh and the attack of Witt.

You can cover up the issues - if Burt's struggling under the high ball, make him swap places with Tahu in defence. It's simple.

Ah OK.

Yeah, that's a fair call mate.

But I for one did notice at least once where Luke Burt rushed off his wing to smash the Warriors centre (OK, so he kind of missed lol).

He put his body on the line, so to speak, and ended a dangerous attacking movement.

Some of you may say I will always defend him - not true. Look back a fewe months after he had a series of shockers.

I am as critical of him as most of you.

The poitn I try to get across is that he had a solid game, marred by a couple of errors.

But he wasn't woeful.

I reckon he deserves a pat on the back, no matter how light it is.

I think you will find that most people will have agreed that he actually had a decent game on the weekend.
And he did - he did some brilliant stuff. I was impressed and very happy that he did.

But it is just too few and far between these performances for most peoples liking.

Oh for sure mate.

I, too, believe that if he could work on cutting down his errors and work on his consistency, people may lay off him a bit.

Unfortunately for some, the best way for him to work on that is by playing consistent First Grade football.

Also, in another thread, there was a congratulatory thread for Burt in which people shot him down.

Harsh, considering he wasn't our worst player by a long shot.
