LUKE COVELL GORNEEEEEEEEE

Cronulla have continued their foray into the player market, with Wests Tigers three quarter Luke Covell agreeing to terms with the club. Covell is most noted for his goalkicking ability, an area in which Cronulla is decidedly lacking.

Covell arrives at the club with a goalkicking average of over 80%. Cronulla have recently relied on halfback Brett Kimmorley to do their kicking, who struggles to maintain an average above 65%. Matt Hilder has also done some kicking in recent weeks and has shown some good form, but how reliable he will be remains to be seen.

Covell joins Warriors centre Vince Mellars and young Panthers prop Luke Harlen as new faces at the club for 2005.

Well done Tigers management
Sign up another 30yo instead now.
Well done.
And we also read the club has signed Motu Tony .
Is that a gee up ?
I suppose he will add heaps to the forward pack .
Or in the centres where we badly need strengthening .

Its little wonder we have never made the top 8 with the kind of decisions our management continue to make .

It seems to always be this time of the year when we start to capitulate .

On the brighter side , Wests fans can always book their holidays in September .

I thought Castleford TIGERS signed him.

Castleford Tigers signed him mid-season from the broncos for 2 years........

we dont need centres, we have to many centres, Elford, Wilson, Collis, Haltau, Harrison just not enough wingers

Dissapointed Covell is leaving but not suprised at the same time.We basically must sign a winger or two now.It could be a sign that Moodie and Miles will both be re-signed too.

Honestly with the players that are on the market Covell would have been good to keep. Maybe he left to get a first grade spot because really he never really got his chance here. Always seems we lose a solid player every season who goes on to play for a better performing club and gets a start. Villa, Withers, and to a lesser extent Salah. Well I hope we sign a star with his money instead.

Villasanti, Withers and Saleh have rarely made any consistent impressions......sure they've had some success.....but to include Saleh?????????? Sheesh

Saleh's going ok at the Sharks in PL, if it wasnt for the amount of wingers we have and the fact that he currently has a hand injury he would be threatening for first grade

To be honest,it isnt a huge loss IMHO.

Great kicker, but the rest of his game......well,Ill leave it at that.

I wish him good luck, but he can trip over his own shoelaces at another club.

Cheers.

Depending on who Wests sign as a replacement will depend on how much of a loss Covell really will be. Maybe a fresh new start maybe what he needs. I hope he gets the opportunity to play 1st Grade at the Shire, because although he may not be a gamebreaker, he is solid safe and will not let anyone down. His left foot is just a gift he was born with and a bonus to any football side he plays with. Thanks for the service Superboot, will be sorry to see you go. All the best.

I say good on you Luke, if you've got the opportunity to make a name for yourself go for it. In my opinion Covell has and will be underused by the Tigers. Although he's not the worlds number one player he's a good if not great support player.

Well we better get moving and snap up Scott Donald for next season cause our wing depth is going to be tested especially if Moodie pulls the plug. That will leave us with Miles and Richards as wingers and not much depth. Good Luck Luke i'm sure you will be a great success at the Sharks and if Brett Hodgson wasn't in the side you would have played everygame this year.

letting luke go will come back to bite us on the arse, if we let him go we better get rid of miles as well he is hopeless, we need to drop a few back rowers not wingers/centres what are they thinking
