Justice done in my opinion. The Dark Knight where it belongs and Shawshank where it should be.

Don't know about that. The Godfather is somewhat polarising (moreseo than the other movies at the top) - there's quite a few people out there who find it too long and boring. Doesn't surprise me to see it with a lot of low votes.

All the lows came after the release of the DKR

We didn't have too many aussie movies. Of the three that made the top 50, two aren't even ranked by imdb. This might be par, but as a primarily aussie site we don't seem to rank our movies (fillums).

Because they're rarely any good?

As far as the three Aussie movies go, I rate Mad Max 2 as about my fav all time movie. A few weeks ago, Wake In Fright was on FTA (SBS or ABC?) but I missed the first 1/2 hour - looked damn good.

Never seen The Castle.

Hard to really give a lot of Aussie films the nod, especially when two of the more obvious contenders (Muriel's Wedding and Priscilla) cater towards a rather un-NRL crowd.

Surprised the Odd Angry Shot didn't get an votes up there with FMJ and Platoon as the best Vietnam movies I've seen.

One of my fave Aussie films.

Cry a little, laugh a lot, Aussies being aussies......

I agree haffa.

In a similar vein Breaker Morant was a great adaptation of Kit Denton's "The Breaker".

Gallipoli is a strong film.

Plenty more as well - some examples - Two Hands, Romper Stomper, Their A Weird Mob, The Dish, Chopper, Kenny, Candy....

A standout from across the ditch - Once Were Warriors. Doesn't even rate a mention?

Plenty of good Australian films, the problem is there's more excellent films across the globe.

Mad Max & Animal Kingdom would be the pick of the bunch for me.

Surprised that I forgot about it. Very good film.

I can't take Gallipoli seriously with its awful soundtrack. It's jarringly out of place.
