Royal Rumble continued...

As Gregory Helms celebrates his victory and Juventud is helped from the ring, a video is played hyping the recent fallout between former tag team champions Kane and The Big Show. In typical WWE style it has slow motion replays and dramatic music. The Big Show is first out to the ring, getting the face pop before Kane's explosive entrance draws boos from the crowd.

MATCH THREE - The Big Show vs. Kane
This one starts out with a straight up brawl, as we've come to expect from these two behemoths. The current tally stands at one apiece on in ring confrontations (albeit with their latter match being entirely out of the ring) and it's hard to separate them early on as they combat with chops, kicks, and clotheslines.

The battle doesn't take long to spill to the outside, where Kane soon gains control having whipped Big Show into (and over) the stairs. He attempts a chokeslam as they battle up the ramp, but Big Show blocks it and delivers one of his own! The referee is counting them out as we speak, but still they struggle up the ramp towards the stage at its head. They're at the lip now, still exchanging blows, and the referee is calling for the bell. This one is being ruled as a draw.
WINNER: Draw via countout after 3:05

The Big Show and Kane aren't done, however, and they're teetering closer and closer to the edge of the stage. Big Show roars at the crowd and prepares to hit a chokeslam, but Kane ducks the attempt and retaliates with a chop that has Big Show dangerously close to falling. He locks a hand around Big Show's throat and here it comes.... CHOKESLAM! Kane and Big Show plummet off the stage and into a pile of tables below, where both lie twitching in a heap. The match is over, but it doesn't look like the two big mens' blood feud is!

We're now backstage with Carlito and Maria. Maria asks Carlito how he feels going into his title defence against Chavo Guerrero, but Carlito seems more interested in hyping his chances of winning the Royal Rumble. He says that only one thing would be cooler than winning the Royal Rumble, and that would be headlining Wrestlemania and putting the strap around his waist.

We cut from Carlito to the ring as Chavo Guerrero comes out to 'Eddie' chants for his shot at Carlito's Intercontinental Title. A video shows how Chavo earned this right, having won a Battle Royal at New Year's Revolution against the likes of Goldust and Chris Masters. Carlito is out next, the 'cool' champion not receiving a warm reception from the fans.

MATCH FOUR - Carlito (c) vs. Chavo Guerrero for the Intercontinental Title
This one starts out with huge Eddie chants, but it's Carlito who goes on the offensive early - thumbing Chavo's eye and dropping him to the mat with a hard elbow to the back. He continues to keep on the pressure, driving Chavo into the corner where he chokes him until the referee breaks it up. In true Guerrero style, Chavo responds with a thumb to the eye of his own, and then sends Carlito tumbling to the outside with a brilliant standing dropkick. He points to the sky in tribute to his departed uncle before launching himself over the top rope to crush Carlito. The fans go crazy as Chavo is the first to his feet and rolls the champion back into the ring.

It's all Chavo here, as he whips Carlito and drops him to the ground with a dropkick followed by an attempted submission in the form of his Deathlock STF. This is certainly a side of Chavo we've not seen before! Carlito is writhing in agony but Chavo relinquishes the hold of his own volition and channels Eddie Guerrero by signalling for the Three Amigos. He's able to get two off before Carlito finds the strength and presence of mind to block it and hit a vertical suplex of his own. Carlito, clearly frustrated, lays into Chavo Guerrero with vicious kicks before dropping to his knees and choking him.

The referee drags Carlito off of the challenger, who staggers to his feet dazed and hurt. Carlito shoves the referee aside to continue his assault, but Chavo was playing possum! He hits Carlito with a dropkick and then, once he's standing, whips him and catches him with a flying headscissors on the rebound! Chavo is gaining momentum here! Carlito is dazed as he staggers right into Chavo, who once again hits the Three Amigos, this time getting off all three! He's going to the top...could it be.... FROG SPLASH!

1

2

KICKOUT! Carlito gets a shoulder up at the last possible second! Chavo can't believe it! He turns to the referee to dispute the count, and that's the opportunity the champion needs! He low blows Carlito and somehow the referee misses it! As Chavo stumbles back in surprise, Carlito rolls him up and puts his feet on the ropes for good measure. 1-2-KICKOUT! Carlito drags Chavo to his feet and hits him with the Cool-Cutter. Surely that's it?

1

2

NO! Once again Chavo gets a shoulder up, and the crowd are loving it. Carlito, on the other hand, isn't so happy. Frustrated he goes to the outside and returns with the Intercontinental Title. He and the referee get into a wrestling match of their own over the strap, with referee Jack Doan able to wrest it from Carlito's control. The distraction has been sufficient for Chavo to regain his wits, and as Carlito turns around he's treated to the Gory Bomb! Cover, 1-2-no! Carlito's struck Chavo in the head with something...an apple! The referee didn't see it! Carlito picks Chavo up and hits the Carlito-Cutter again! Cover. 1-2-kickout again! Chavo refuses to surrender!

Carlito is well and truly frustrated now. He goes to the referee, shoves him out of the way, and again reaches for the belt. Chavo staggers over to drag Carlito back into the ring but cops a faceful of championship gold! The referee's seen it and calls for the DQ. Carlito retains through disqualification!
WINNER: Chavo Guerrero by DQ after 10:09

As Carlito celebrates his 'victory', however, some familiar music hits. It's Rob Van Dam! RVD is back! Carlito is watching the ramp, terrified, when RVD leaps the security barrier behind him and comes off the top turnbuckle with a missile dropkick that sends Carlito to the outside. RVD stands in the centre of the ring, points at Carlito, and mouths the letters 'R-V-D'.

We're given a preview for this year's Wrestlemania, which is themed around 'old enemies' and the like. It highlights past legendary feuds such as Stone Cold and Steve Austin, The Rock and Steve Austin, Undertaker & Kane, and a few others.

We've got the four team elimination tag title match up next, and it's the popular Mexicools' pairing of Super Crazy and Psicosis on the way out to the ring on their Juan Deere lawn mowers. Next out is LOD 2005 (made up of Heidenreich and Road Warrior Animal), and the final challenging side is Paul London & Brian 'Spanky' Kendrick, who scored an upset win over LOD 2005 on last week's Smackdown. Finally we're presented with the unpopular championship team, MNM, who are accompanied to the ring by Melina.

MATCH FIVE - MNM (c) vs. London & Kendrick vs. LOD 2005 vs. The Mexicools for the WWE Tag Titles
The rules here are pretty simple, anyone can tag in anybody else (except for the partner of the man already in the ring) and if one member is pinned, the team is eliminated. The winner is the last team standing.

The first two in the ring are Super Crazy and Jonny Nitro. The Mexicools have a long history of antagonism with MNM, including a title match at December's Armageddon PPV. They tie up and straight away Nitro is using every trick in the heel book to get in control, dragging Crazy's face along the ropes before tagging in Mercury. The more experienced member of the team controls things for some time, using a more power based style to keep Super Crazy away from any of the other workers. He locks him in a sleeper hold, something out of his usual arsenal, but Super Crazy is able to turn it into a jawbreaker and make a rushed tag to the outstretched Heidenreich. The big man cleans house on both members of MNM, who attempt to get in the ring and double team him only to get a double DDT.

Mercury, still the legal man, is able to thumb Heidenreich's eye and make a hurried tag to Brian Kendrick - who immediately comes off the top rope with a missile dropkick for two. Heidenreich attempts to brawl with the smaller wrestler but Kendrick continually evades his swings and retaliates with kicks to the legs and waist. He soon tags in Paul London, who hits a top rope hurricanrana pin. Animal breaks it up and sends London to the outside with a vertical suplex. His 'victory' is short-lived, however, with both of The Mexicools dropping him with dropkicks. London, still the legal man, scampers to the top turnbuckle and treats Animal to the London Calling. He covers, but the referee reminds him that Heidenreich is the legal man. As if to punctuate his point, Heidenreich returns to action with a chokeslam on London. He covers, but Kendrick comes across with a standing senton to break the pin.

London tags out to Psicosis, who goes up top for a flying crossbody but gets caught! Heidenreich looks set to do a fallaway slam when Super Crazy dropkicks his own partner, sending both men to the mat! 1-2-3! Psicosis got the pin on Heidenreich, eliminating LOD 2005!

Jonny Nitro is immediately in the ring, capitalising on Psicosis' weakened state by hitting him with a swinging neckbreaker. He whips the smaller Mexican hard into the corner and hits him with a dropkick as he comes out. He then nails a standing shooting star press, a move he's not been able to pull out since his OVW days! Cover. 1....2....kickout! Psicosis somehow manages to find the strength to kick out despite the beating he's taken. Mercury is again tagged in and completely dominates the Mexicools' member, who is eventually able to block an attempted Russian Legsweep and stagger to his corner for the hot tag to Super Crazy. Crazy cleans house with dropkick after dropkick, laying out all four opponents before hitting Mercury with the Trifecta Moonsault. 1-2-NO! Crazy is dragged from the ring by Melina, and with the chaos in the ring, the referee didn't see it! Melina berates Super Crazy and his kisses her! He plants one right on her lips! The crowd go nuts as both Mercury and Nitro slide to the outside, grab Super Crazy, and lay him out with the Snapshot.

The referee's regained control and begins to count out Super Crazy, but Psicosis helps him into the ring where he tags himself in. He then walks right across to Paul London and tags in the former Cruiserweight Champion. London lays into Mercury with a series of brutal kicks before hitting a Dragon Suplex for a near fall. He tags out to Brian Kendrick, who immediately goes on the offence with his own series of chops and kicks. He gets cocky, however, and signals for the Sliced Bread #2 - which gets him tossed unceremiously out of the ring by Mercury, who is finally able to tag in Jonny Nitro. Nitro and Mercury go to work on Kendrick outside of the ring whilst Melina keeps London away. They roll Kendrick back into the ring, hit the Snapshot, and cover. 1-2-3. It's over for London & Kendrick. Paul London isn't happy though! He comes into the ring and hits Nitro with the Waffle Face (Sky lift double chickenwing into a sit-out faceplant)! Mercury clotheslines London out of the ring, but Psicosis is on hand as he catches a recovering Nitro with the Psyco Stunner for a two count. Only Mercury's timely return is able to break up the pinfall attempt.

Nitro and Mercury double team Psicosis some more at this point, with the referee pre-occupied with keeping Super Crazy out of the ring. They double back suplex the challenger before Melina slides one of the tag title belts into the ring. Nitro picks it up and swings at Psicosis, who ducks and hits a dropkick! The belt drops to the mat, Psicosis picks it up, and drills Mercury with it! Mercury goes over the top rope and to the outside and Psicosis is quick to discard the belt. He goes up top for his guillotine leg-drop, but Melina is again on hand - shoving him and sending him to the canvas. A groggy Nitro drapes an arm across Psicosis' chest. Super Crazy attempts to get in, but Mercury has the presence of mind to grab his leg and hold him out.

3!

It's over! MNM retain their tag gold thanks to an assist from Melina!

As they celebrate in the ring Raw tag team champions Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch appear on the ramp, applauding sarcastically and pointing to the straps! Could we see a unification match in the near future?
WINNERS: MNM by pinfall on Psicosis after 13:36

We've already crowned one new champion tonight and there's more gold on the line in our next match, which will see Booker T put his United States title on the line against Lashley. On Friday's Smackdown Booker guaranteed a title retention, and he comes out cocky with Sharmell at his side to a chorus of boos. Lashley's own entrance is greeted with substantially more support from the crowd. He's accompanied by both Paul Birchall and Ted DiBiase.

MATCH SIX - Booker T (c) vs. Lashley for the US Title
This one get's underway with Booker T using his speed advantage to evade Lashley's early lunges as the bigger man attempts to get Booker locked up in a hold. He gets cocky after doing this for a few moments and walks right into a discus clothesline from the challenger. Lashley whips Booker T and catches him in an overhead release belly to belly suplex. Booker T, obviously seeing the danger his title run is in, smartly slides to the outside where Sharmell checks on his condition. Booker's stumbling takes him close to Paul Birchall, however, and the violent Englishman knocks him down with a dropkick! The referee comes over and gives Lashley's support crew a warning as Booker T slides back into the ring. Birchall and DiBiase stupidly debate the call, keeping the referee occupied whilst Booker T chokes Lashley with his wife's sash before hitting him with a running knee lift. Cover gets two.

Booker T slows the pace a little with a sleeper hold, but Lashley uses his superior strength to lift Booker T up and power him spine first into the turnbuckle. Booker T relinquishes the hold and Lashley treats him to a few shoulder thrusts before catching him in another belly to belly suplex. A hard whip from Lashley comes next, and he kicks Booker T in the gut before signalling for the Dominator. Sharmell is quick to get up on the apron and, though Lashley hits his finisher, the referee isn't around to count it. DiBiase pulls Sharmell off of the apron and gets a slap for his efforts. In the ring Paul Birchall and Booker T are brawling. Birchall catches Booker T and signals for the C-4, but Booker T puts a stop to it with a knee to the groin! Birchall is down! Booker T turns around and Lashley is on hand to kick him in the stomach. DOMINATOR! Lashley hits his finisher for the second time and this one is as good as over.

No! The referee is again confronted on the apron, but this time it's Faarooq of the Nation of Domination! Lashley has Booker T covered for at least a ten count but the referee is in a heated argument with Faarooq. Rikishi is in the ring! SUPERKICK! Lashley goes down! Rikishi drapes Booker T's arm over Lashley's chest and Faarooq steps down off the apron. Birchall is still down in the ring with DiBiase being held back by Samoa Joe.

1-2-3! Booker T retains with an unexpected assist from the Nation of Domination!
WINNER: Booker T by pinfall after 7:55

Booker T staggers to his feet and is met by Faarooq, who hands him the belt and then raises his hand. Booker T smiles! My God, Booker T has joined the Nation of Domination and retained his title with their help! Samoa Joe and Rikishi are back in the ring now, and they lay the boots into the fallen Lashley and Birchall. Samoa Joe gets Birchall up on his shoulders and delivers the Muscle Buster, whilst Rikishi drags Lashley to his feet before hitting the Rikishi Driver. What a brutal assault!

As the chaos in the ring quiets a video begins to play, highlighting the storied career of 'The Nature Boy' Ric Flair. The tribute highlights all of his great achievements in both the NWA, WCW, and WWE before taking an altogether 'bloodier' feel as Triple H's recent string of assaults become the focal point of the video. The video ends with Triple H's promise to end Ric Flair's career tonight.

The Cell is lowered and it's time for Triple H vs. Ric Flair with Flair's career on the line. If Ric can't win tonight his WWE career will be over! The Nature Boy is first out, still bearing the scars from his loss at New Year's Revolution to a tremendous ovation. The 'woos' are positively deafening as the legendary performer enters the cage. Next out, of course, is The Game - who draws huge heel heat as he struts down to the ring.

MATCH SEVEN - Triple H vs. Ric Flair, Hell in a Cell
There's no love lost as the bell rings and the cage is sealed. Both men stare at one another with something like pure, unadulterated hatred in their eyes. For a full minute they simply stare with the crowd's chants for Flair rattling the roof. Then, with one crisp chop, Flair gets it underway. The atmosphere is electric as these two legends begin to exchange punches, with Flair's retaliatory chops slowly pushing Triple H back into a corner for the legendary 'woooo' chops. He gets two off before Triple H ducks, steps behind Flair, and drives him face first into the turnbuckle. A clubbing blow to the back drops Flair to his knees, allowing Triple H to lock him in a cruel looking headlock to drain his strength. Flair battles out of it with hard elbows to Hunter's ribs before hitting a back suplex that gets the crowd well and truly pumped. He comes off the ropes and drops a knee into The Game's throat.

Triple H is dragged to his feet where Flair again delivers a series of stinging chops, but this time Triple H takes full advantage of the no DQ rules by thumbing Flair's eye and hitting him with his running knee lift. He then ducks under the ring and returns with a chair, obviously intent on making Flair bleed. His clumsy swing is ducked, however, and Flair displays his legendary cool with a flick to Triple H's eye! HHH takes a second blind swing, completely missing Flair, who begins to fight back with right hands. Triple H has recovered his eye-sight, however, and nails Flair in the throat with a vicious chair jab. He then cracks it across Flair's back before discarding the chair and posing for the crowd. Flair is on his knees with blood flowing from his face but Triple H is paying him no heed. He eventually walks over to the bloody mess that is Ric Flair and gets the low blow! The crowd go nuts as Flair hits his trademark low blow on his old enemy. He then goes to town with the chair, raining blows on Hunter until it's clear that both men are going to fight this one out bloody.

Flair goes for the first cover of the match, but Triple H's shoulder is up on two. Flair whips Triple H and catches him in a sleeper hold remeniscent of Rowdy Roddy Piper! Is he going to make Triple H pass out! It looks that way! Triple H is fading fast as he drops to one knee. The referee lifts his arm and it drops. He lifts it a second time as Flair tightens his grip and 'wooos' to the moon. It drops! Third time... NO! Triple H stops and begins to fight back, driving elbows into Flair's abdomen before shoving him into the turnbuckle. Hunter then viciously rubs Flair's face across the cage, making the bleeding worse.

To be continued...

...continued from previous results post...

Triple H continues to control things as the match moves on, with a bloodied Flair offering only token resistance to the younger opponent who seems to delight in inflicting pain upon him. Flair takes bump after bump, including a gruesome pedigree onto a chair that he somehow finds the will to kick out after. Triple H's frustration becomes evident as Flair refuses to lie down and it goes further when Flair reverses a whip and drops Hunter to the mat with a stiff chop. He then wooooos to the ceiling and Triple H looks genuinely afraid. He comes at Flair with punches but the Nature Boy somehow shrugs them off as he battles Triple H into a corner where he delivers trademark chop after trademark chop. He then drops Triple H onto the mat with a hard atomic drop before clambering to the top rope. Can he....? HE CAN! Flair flies and comes down with an ax-handle chop on Triple H as he staggers to his feet. He's locking it in! Flair has Triple H trapped in the Figure Four Leglock! The Game is stranded and he's got the dirtiest player in the game locking him in a brutal submission hold! Triple H is stuck! The Game is stuck! Ric Flair's career will continue!

No! Triple H has managed to get a hand on that sledgehammer! He brings it around in a gruesome swing and near decapitates Ric Flair with it! Not this way! Christ, not this way! Triple H slowly gets to his feet, reluctant to put weight on his badly injured left leg. Flair is out, but The Game wants more. He drags the Nature Boy to his feet... PEDIGREE!

Cover. No, don't let it go down like this!

Triple H has ended Ric Flair's career!
WINNER: Triple H via pinfall after 15:27

The crowd give Ric Flair a standing ovation as he's carried out of the arena on a stretcher. Triple H doesn't show any respect, however, standing atop the ring posts as the cage is raised and mocking Flair by wooing to the skies.

The touching scenes in the ring continue as we cut back to Josh Matthews with none other than Hulk Hogan. The crowd cheer as another icon cuts a promo about getting the title one more time...brother.

We return to the ring where Randy Orton is on his way out to the ring with Bob Orton at his side. The champion looks cocky as he poses with the belt. Matt Hardy is out next, the courageous underdog getting a big pop as he rushes out to the ring - scaring Orton to the floor. Finally, Hulk Hogan comes out to the biggest pop of the evening thus far. It's time to decide the World Heavyweight Championship!

MATCH EIGHT - Matt Hardy vs. Randy Orton (c) vs. Hulk Hogan for the World Heavyweight Title
The crowd applaud and cheer as the three combatants circle after the bell rings. Hogan and Hardy turn to one another, nod in agreement, and begin to attack Orton - who is caught unawares by a flurry of blows from both men. Hogan whips him but Orton has the presence of mind to roll to the outside. Hogan turns around into a running clothesline from Hardy, who obviously doesn't want to maintain their alliance. He locks in a hammerlock, but Hogan is able to reverse it and land a big elbow to his back before hitting a reverse atomic drop. The crowd go nuts as he covers, but Orton is in in time to break it up. With Hardy momentarily out of the picture, Orton controls things against Hogan - locking him in a side headlock before knocking him down with a dropkick. Orton drags Hogan to his feet and knocks him right back down with a european uppercut before mocking the fallen legend by posing for the crowd. Matt Hardy brings an end to this behaviour, catching Orton unawares with a missile dropkick. He then hits a swinging neckbreaker on Hogan as he stands, covering for two. Hulkster kicking out gets a huge pop. Matt Hardy continues to work on Hogan, hitting the Side Effect and covering - but once again the champion is on hand to break things up.

Hogan is to his feet and it's a three way brawl that the Hulkster manages to get on top of, banging his two opponents' heads together and posing for the crowd. He tosses Hardy to the outside and picks up Orton in a bear hug! Orton is in a hell of a pickle. Outside the ring Bob Orton tosses a chair into the ring for no apparent reason. As the referee goes after it, however, Bob Orton slides into the ring and low blows Hogan! Orton drops lightly to his feet and hits the RKO! Cover!

1

2

NO! Hogan kicks out. Orton stamps on Hogan some more before dragging him to his feet, whipping him, and locking in a sleeper hold. Hogan is fading fast! The hand is lifted twice before Hogan begins to make his trademark Hulk Up. He battles out with right hands before hitting the Big Boot! Here it comes... LEG DROP! He hits it! Hogan's going to be champion!

1

2

Matt Hardy's in to break it up! Hogan almost had it! Hardy hits the Twist of Fate on Hogan as he spins around, but Orton is to his feet somehow and there's no pinfall attempt made.

Orton and Hardy begin to brawl without holding back, letting out month's of pent up anger. Hardy gets control early, attempting to hit the Twist of Fate but being shoved out fo it and right into Hulk Hogan's big boot! Hogan doesn't have time to hit his Leg Drop, however, as Orton comes across and hits an RKO! Hogan is down! Hogan and Hardy are both down! Orton is about to cover when a bell tolls and the arena goes dark. The Undertaker is here! Good God!

Orton is terrified and he stands watching the ramp in fear. Meanwhile Matt Hardy is to his feet. He dropkicks Orton from behind, and the champion goes to the floor outside! Hogan is to his feet, but Hardy kicks him in the gut and hits the Twist of Fate! Hardy goes to the top rope, roars at the crowd, and hits the top rope leg drop! Cover!

1

Orton's crawling back into the ring

2

He's halfway across the ring

3!

Matt Hardy has pinned Hulk Hogan to become World Heavyweight Champion thanks to The Undertaker! But where is he? He's nowhere to be seen!
WINNER: Matt Hardy by pinfall on Hulk Hogan after 8:11

Matt Hardy's celebrates are cut short as Orton hits him with the RKO! Hogan is given the same treatment as Orton vents his frustrations. But the fact remains that Matt Hardy has captured his first World Heavyweight Championship!

As the fans celebrate Matt Hardy's shock win to gain the World Heavyweight Title, we cut backstage to where WWE Champion John Cena is preparing for his match. The gorgeous Ashley Massaro enters to conduct a pre title defence interview, but Cena cuts her off. He proceeds to rip into Shawn Michaels.

Shawn Michaels, HBK, the Heart-Break Kid
If only I could do the stuff you did
You've won titles, wrestled five star matches galore
Problem is, your Vince McMahon's whore
When you're not holding down stars as part of the clique
You're on your knees sucking the crowd's collective dick
You're a waste of space, a washed up all hack
You've got Sweet Chin Music? Yo, the chain gang got my back
Tonight I'll do what Bret Hart's always wanted to do
Get in the ring, slap you about, and give you a big ol' F-U

The crowd are torn between cheers and boos by the promo, but they're all as one as Shawn Michaels' music hits and the challenger makes his way out for the main event of the evening. John Cena's own entrance is greeted with a mixture of cheers and boos, the WWE champion hasn't endeared himself to the masses of late.

MATCH NINE - John Cena (c) vs. Shawn Michaels for the WWE Title
This one gets underway with the two superstars getting right into one another's faces, saying things the microphones can't pick up. Whatever HBK said, it gets under Cena's skin, and he takes a big clumsy swing at the Heartbreak Kid. Michaels ducks the attempted blow and retaliates with a chop that sends Cena reeling. Cena comes back with some stiff rights and lefts, but Michaels again uses his agility to get around Cena and land another chop. He gradually backs Cena into a corner where he ascends the turnbuckle for a ten punch, but Cena gets a hold of him and drops him in a nasty looking powerbomb. He salutes the crowd, most of whom boo, before going to work on Michaels with a blatant choke. With Michaels weakened, he whips him and drops him with a shoulder block followed by a running elbow. He lifts Michaels up for a suplex, but HBK manages to slip free and hit a reverse neckbreaker on the champion to reverse the momentum. He clambers to the top for his trademark flying elbow, but Cena is able to roll aside and to the outside to avoid the impact. Michaels is quickly back to his feet, launching himself over the top and sending both men to the mat. They brawl on the floor for a while, with Cena gaining the upper hand and whipping Michaels hard into the security barrier. He then rolls him back into the ring and covers for two.

HBK is in trouble here, as Cena picks him up and hits a hard knee breaker before locking in the STFU. The crowd boo as he wrenches on HBK's leg, weakening it substantially, before cockily releasing the hold and waiting for HBK to stand up so he can presumably deliver the F-U. He gets Michaels up onto one shoulder, but the challenger is somehow able to turn it into a DDT to lay the champion out. Both men lie motionless on the canvas after this, with the crowd willing Michaels to stand. And stand he does, kip-up style. He tunes up the band as Cena staggers to his feet. Here it comes.... NO! Cena ducks the Music and Michaels racks himself up on the ropes! Cena hits him with a diving shoulder block that sends him crashing to the floor below!

Cena waits for Michaels to stand before attempting a baseball slide, but HBK steps nimbly aside and drags Cena out by his legs before bouncing his face off the steel ring-steps. He takes Cena around to announce table and bounces his face off of that for good measure. He's setting Cena up for a backdrop... THROUGH THE TABLE! Cena and the table are in a crumbled heap as the fans cheer Michaels. He rolls back into the ring to avoid the count out, before rolling back out. He reaches down to grab Cena, but the champion hits him with a fist rolled in chain! Michaels drops like a sack of bricks and Cena quickly tosses the chain aside. He rolls Michaels back into the ring and covers.

1

2

KICKOUT! Michaels somehow kicks out! Cena can't believe it! He lifts Michaels up, whips him, and gets him up on his shoulders for the F-U. Here it comes... he hits it! He follows it up with the Five Knuckle Shuffle! Cover! 1-2-3! Cena's done it! He's cheated to retain his title!
WINNER: John Cena by pinfall after 13:03

Cena isn't content to celebrate, however, as he goes to the outside and returns with his fist again wrapped in his trademark chain. He begins to beat on the fallen challenger, splitting him open and spilling his blood all over the canvas. The fans boo as he again sets HBK up and delivers a second F-U. His work done, the champion leaves with the belt over his shoulder!

Backstage we find Randy Orton, who only minutes ago lost his World Heavyweight Championship without being pinned, is arguing with Teddy Long and Eric Bischoff. He's demanding a place in the Royal Rumble because he was screwed. Eventually Long and Bischoff agree that he was unfairly beaten, and so they allow him into the Royal Rumble.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, the following is the Royal Rumble match. In a moment the competitors who drew numbers one and two will enter the ring and the match will begin. After this a new competitor will enter based on the number drawn every ninety seconds. In this match elimination can occur in one one and one way only. To be eliminated a superstar must go over the top rope and *both* feet much touch the ground. At the end of the match the winner will be granted a title shot at Wrestlemania!"

'Aint no stoppin' me now!
Entrant #1: Shelton Benjamin (Raw)
Shelton Benjamin, having been given position #1 by Eric Bischoff on Raw, comes out to a solid reaction from the crowd. He leaps to the apron and enters the ring to await his first opponent's arrival. Who will it be?

"Rabid" hits and Chris Benoit makes his way out to the ring! Of course, earlier tonight he was screwed out of position #30 by Edge. This definitely promises to provide some technical wizardy!
Entrant #2: Chris Benoit (Smackdown)

The bell rings and the two technically gifted workers circle one another like two dogs preparing to fight. Under an unheard agreement the two men decide to engage in a test of strength, with Shelton coming out on top initially and forcing Benoit almost all the way back to the mat. The Rabid Wolverine slowly battles back from here, however, and knees Shelton in the midsection before hitting a hard belly to back suplex. Shelton bounces back to his feet and the two men slap hands in a display of sportsmanship before locking up again. This time Shelton blocks an attempted suplex and hits a stalling vertical suplex of his own. This time it's Benoit who has to acknowledge his opponent's skill.

They lock up again, and Shelton whips Benoit to the ropes, leap frogs him, and then knocks him to the ground with a dropkick. The crowd applaud this display of wrestling as the match ticks inexorably on towards the third entrant. The two lock up once more, and Benoit is able to get behind Shelton and hit a German suplex. No! Shelton lands nimbly on his feet and attempts a superkick. Benoit catches his foot, but Shelton attempts an enzuguri! Benoit ducks and locks in the Crippler Crossface! Shelton is on the mat and in no man's land as the count-down to the third entrant appears. Who will it be?

Shelton is tapping to no avail as the next person arrives.
We are the Nation of Domination!
Entrant #3: Rikishi (Smackdown)
The big Samoan stalks down to the ring, content to watch the two athletes already in the ring take one another apart. The in ring action has again come to a stalemate, with the two men exchanging hammerlocks and side headlocks as Rikishi calmly leans against the security barrier to watch. Benoit is the first to notice Rikishi's reluctance to get into the ring, and he releases Shelton and points to the big man. The two nod and slide out under the bottom rope to hit a double baseball slide! Rikishi is then dragged back into the ring! Numbers one and two are working on Riksihi now, beating him down with clubbing blows. Shelton attempts to hit a T-Bone Suplex, but Rikishi blocks it and drops Shelton to his knees with a double axe-handle to the spine. Benoit comes off the top rope with a dropkick, however, and sends Rikishi staggering back into the ropes! The two smaller men are on Rikishi like pit-bulls, trying to lift his weight but unable to. Eventually Rikishi is able to knock the two men away and, as Benoit approaches, knocks him down with a superkick. The counter is up again!

Entrant #4: Chris Masters (Raw)
The Masterpiece takes his time getting to the ring, posing for the crowd and drawing heel heat as he struts. In the ring Rikishi has managed to corner Benoit and is signalling for the Stink Face, but Shelton leaps nimbly onto the top rope, balances precariously, and kicks Rikishi in the face! What agility! Shelton is bouncing cockily when Chris Masters slides into the ring behind him and locks him in the Masterlock! Shelton goes limp as he is thrown about like a rag doll! Meanwhile Benoit has gotten to his feet and is brutally chopping Rikishi, backing the big man slowly across the ring. Chris Masters has dropped the presumably unconscious Shelton on the mat, but as he goes to assist Rikishi, Shelton gets to his feet, spins Masters around, and nails him with the T-Bone Suplex! Meanwhile Benoit is trying in vain to treat Rikishi to a German Suplex, but the weight is simply too great. The two separate brawls are in a stalemate as the clock again ticks down.

We are the Nation of Domination!
Entrant #5: Samoa Joe (Smackdown)
It's another member of Rikishi's Nation of Domination on his way down to the ring, and things are certainly looking good for them! Whilst Shelton remains occupied in a running brawl with Chris Masters, Samoa Joe makes a bee-line straight for Benoit, who still has his arms locked around Rikishi's waist. He clubs Benoit across the back, kicks him in the stomach, and picks him up for a brutal powerbomb. He and Rikishi then pick the smaller man up gorilla press style and carry him towards the ropes! Benoit is able to slide down behind them, however, and a dropkick sends Samoa Joe over the top rope! No! Samoa Joe manages to hold on and Rikishi sends Benoit to the mat with a superkick to slow things.

Meanwhile Shelton Benjamin has managed to get the best of Chris Masters, hitting a second T-Bone Suplex and now focussing his attention on the Nation of Domination. As Samoa Joe re-enters the ring he is met with a dropkick followed by Shelton attempting another T-Bone. This time Samoa Joe is ready, blocking it and hitting a painful looking powerslam before locking in his dreaded Triangle Choke! Shelton is again tapping out. Meanwhile Rikishi and Chris Masters are beating down Benoit in the corner. It's not looking good for the faces!

Hello ladies...
Entrant #6: Val Venis (Raw
The ever popular Val Venis rushes down to the ring, looking to even the score for the big guys. He makes a bee-line straight for Chris Masters, knocking him down with a dropkick before picking him up for his trademark Fisherman's Suplex! We've got six men in the ring and we're still awaiting our first elimination. Rikishi and Chris Masters are locked in a battle to toss one another over the ropes whilst Samoa Joe treats Benjamin to his trademark stiff kicks and chops. Val has Masters on the mat and he goes up to the top for a high risk move. Is he going to hit the Money Shot? NO!

Samoa Joe shows remarkable agility to leap to the second rope and catch Venis in the Muscle Buster! That's absolutely brutal! Chris Masters shows no loyalty or gratitude, sneaking up behind Samoe Joe and locking him in the Masterlock! The fans go nuts as the big Samoan fights the hold and is able to prevent it being put on fully by flipping Masters over his shoulder and kicking him in the spin. Here comes another entrant!

We are the Nation of Domination!
Entrant #7: Faarooq (Smackdown)
It's the leader of the Nation of Domination, and things are certainly looking good for them at the moment! Faarooq comes into the ring full of fury, and immediately treats Shelton Benjamin to a Dominator. The Nation of Domination get into complete control quickly, taking out Venis through sheer weight of numbers before turning their attention to a cornered Benoit. He fights valiantly, holding them off for a moment, but soon he is beaten into submission like the rest. He's being carried to the ropes on Rikishi's shoulder when Val Venis grabs his ankle and drags him to safety! Samoa Joe isn't happy about this, hitting Venis from behind with a painful kick that drops him to his knees. He hits a rollover neckbreaker before dragging Venis up for the second Muscle Buster! With Venis a crumbled mess, it's easy for Samoa Joe to toss him unceremoniously over the top rope.

Elimination #1: Val Venis (by Samoa Joe

The countdown is on and the Nation of Domination turn to meet the unfortunate soul who drew number eight. Who will it be?

Entrant #8: Lashley
The arena erupts as the one man army sprints down to the ring. Faarooq and Rikishi back off to allow Samoa Joe to take on the big man, but the Samoan doesn't fair so well - whipped hard and then laid out with a stiff clothesline. Rikishi and Faarooq leap on top of Lashley, but he somehow fights out from beneath them and picks Faarooq up. DOMINATOR! He treats Faarooq to a taste of his own medicine, only to turn around into a superkick from Rikishi! Shelton Benjamin, Chris Masters, and Chris Benoit are all back to their feet now. Benoit comes off the top rope. SUICIDE HEADBUTT! He hit Faarooq right in the heart there! Shelton is returning the favour to Samoa Joe for his earlier beating, locking him in a painful looking Boston Crab.

Whilst Shelton has Samoa Joe trapped, Benoit has locked Faarooq in the Crippler Crossface! Masters hangs back as Lashley and Rikishi clash in a true battle of the titans. It starts out evenly matched, but Lashley is all muscle and he's wearing Rikishi down with a brutal chokehold. Once Rikishi is worn down, Lashley tries to pick him up. Can he? Will he? HE DOES! DOMINATOR TO RIKISHI! Rikishi is out cold! Lashley drags him to his feet and unceremoniously tosses him over the top rope!

Elimination #2: Rikishi (by Lashley)

Chris Masters, seeing the opportunity to make an easy elimination, attempts to lock Lashley in the Masterlock. He's halfway to having it locked in when Lashley runs at the ropes and dumps him over his shoulder. Masters crashes to the mat!

Elimination #3: Chris Masters (by Lashley)

There's another entrant due.
Oooh Chavo!
Entrant #9: Chavo Guerrero (Raw)

The popular nephew of Eddie Guerrero rushes out to the ring to Eddie chants. Things in the ring remain in something of a stalemate. Samoa Joe is tangling with Shelton Benjamin and Benoit is getting assistance with Faarooq from Lashley, who seems intent on scoring revenge against the Nation for their interference in his title match against Booker T. Lashley and Benoit whip Faarooq hard into the corner, and Lashley follows with a brutal avalanche that crushes Faarooq against the turnbuckle. As he staggers out, Benoit hits him with a running elbow that sends him over the top rope! Faarooq is gone! Samoa Joe is in a world of trouble now!

Elimination #4: Faarooq (by Chris Benoit)

Things in the ring devolve in a free for all brawl as is common in Royal Rumbles. Samoa Joe may be the only 'bad guy' in the ring, but all allegiances are off. Chavo finds himself in a spot of trouble as he attacks Lashley, but the nimble Mexican continually evades the most deadly of Lashley's arsenal. Another entrant is due here, who will it be?

Entrant #10: Paul Birchall (Smackdown)

It's Birchall, Lashley's stable mate and ally, but will they be on the same page tonight? It seems that way as the English brawler and Lashley both make an all out assault on Samoa Joe, beating down the big Samoan with clubbing blows and kicks. Chavo Guerrero attempts to interfere at one point, but Birchall sends him packing with the always impressive C4. Meanwhile Lashley has Samoa Joe halfway over the top rope. Birchall, seeing an opportunity, rushes at the both of them! Samoa Joe is able to get to his feet as Birchall approaches, and calmly shoulder drops the smaller man to the mat!

Elimination #5: Paul Birchall (by Samoa Joe)

Lashley takes advantage of the momentary distraction, clotheslining Samoa Joe over the ropes, but the big man shows remarkable balance to land on the apron. He attempts to suplex Lashley over the ropes, but Lashley is also able to land on the apron. The two big men brawl, lucky that Benoit, Shelton Benjamin, and Chavo Guerrero are otherwise occupied. They exchange blows before Lashley attempts a running clothesline. Samoa Joe ducks it and delivers a stiff kick to Lashley's abdomen. Lashley is teetering! Another kick! He's hanging! A third kick! He's gone! Samoa Joe has overcome the odds here and eliminated Lashley!

Elimination #6: Lashley (By Samoa Joe)

Lashley turns around to face the team of three smaller men, all of whom have taken notice of Samoa Joe's strength. They nod to one another and attempt to triple team the big man, but he's able to battle them off. He sends Chavo to the mat with a shove, catches Shelton in a snap suplex, and then gets behind Benoit to lock in his Triangle Choke! Samoa Joe looks unstoppable out there as the clock begins to count towards the 11th entrant.
