Hi all,
I have decided to pull my finger out and put all of my families St.George archives to electronic format. It will take me a while, so please be patient but as I scan things, I will add to this thread.

To kick off the thread, you will find a picture that was taken at Kogarah Oval of my Mother's Billy Smith sign that her and my Grandmother put together.

The 2nd picture is the back cover of Rugby League News, Saturday May 2nd 1970, Vol 51, No. 15 (featuring the queen on the front cover). Mick Simmons would be interested in this no doubt.

My Mother has scrap books from 1971 through to 1977 with newspaper clippings for most of these seasons, so there is plenty to see, so it's worth your while checking back over the offseason whilst I build this little trip down memory lane.

Hope everyone enjoys my collection.

Pic's have just been taken with an iphone as I'm getting the ball rolling, but I will be doing higher res scans where possible.

Does the collection span the 80's too?

Unfortunately once my arrival in 1981, there wasn't much time left to scrapbook for my Mum so it dies in the ass through much of the 80's. I do have a bit from the 90's but I don't know if I will be able to scan posters and stuff (unless I go to Office works).

I will start scanning the 1970 / 1971 stuff tomorrow (at work).

ok, I have scanned a few of the Rugby League News books I have, and some player shots.

Didn't all work as I would have liked, so I will need to have a rethink about the best way to reproduce all of this in all of it's glory.

So as you can see, the quality is pretty good but the scanner didn't get two pages when I attempted to do an open book. Once I work it all out, I will continue.
The scrap books are too big for my scanner so need a work around for them.

Willow - Any chance we could get the settings changed for this section so I can post more than 5 pictures at a time?

Cheers

Wonderful accumulation Macca, thanks for sharing it with us. As an avid viewer of Antiques Roadshow, I would recommend you insure your collection for ₤75,000

I loved the page below... such a fun read

LOL @ the valuation. I doubt it would ever be worth too much (as much as someone is willing to pay for it, but you gotta find that someone) and if I was to ever part ways with it, I would have to see it go to a museum of some sort for future generations enjoyment. I can see it being something we pass down the family though.

I also enjoyed the read of that page. This is just the beginning, if I can work out the best way (and I would rather free) to get the scrapooks on to here, you will find many hours of reading this off season.

Doesn't seem to get much traffic over here though

Great idea mate.. Good opportunity for some of us younger fans to read about the wonderful history before our time. Some of those sideburns are exquisite.

You can see where your passion has come from with your mum's collection.
