Fantastic show!

Loved every single minute of it. This should be on every Monday night of the season!

Time slot would be better at around the 9:30 mark and shown live after the the Monday night match so a review of the entire round can be discussed.

Loved the interview with Bennett also.

From the get-go, Gus started showing teams strengths/weaknesses in attack and defence.

A lot of people don't like Gus, but I really do love hearing him talking footy!

Great call.

This Breen fella doesn't even write league anymore, I think he used to way back in Sunday mail days.

Piss him off and put someone there who has played or coached before.

As much as I can't stand him on the radio, I think Bozo Fulton would be good on a serious show like this. When he talks seriously about the game (which is rare these days) he is good to listen to.

A nuffy telecrap sports editor gives the show no credo at all.

Masters is my first preference, but someone like a SERIOUS fulton would be good. I'd say Graeme Hughes as well, but he's no show with Rayyy there.

This show must continue next year.
I agree, great show though. No chance in hell would I want Fulton near it however

Damn I went to bed before it started and missed it. Forgot it was on. Is there anywhere I can download it?

10.30 is a horrible time slot, I missed it for that reason as well, would have watched it for sure if on even half-hour earlier.

(ps - I'm assuming it's a one hour show?)

Amazing it pops up as the TV rights are being negotiated - it should have been on earlier and dare I say it, replace the Footy Show.

The serious league show from 9 that we have all been screaming for, its a shame about the time slot and the fact it came on with only 2 weeks remaining in the football year.

and this is why fans dont like nein. this could have been running for several years but it's taken until now to try something. my suspicion is it's also to combat the matty johns 1 hour of controversy corner (which is more light hearted but has a go at some of the more serious issues)

yeah 1 hour, maybe a bit more, again the timeslot is why people don't like nein, on the one hand they finally deliver something for league fans but put it on at a stupid timeslot. at elast it wasnt shown after midnight like games in other states....

but i can see it getting canned and the dumbarse executives gojng "it didnt rate well", of course it will struggle to rate at 10:30pm on a monday night....

p.s. i thought the show was great and have been waiting all week for it, i'm just not holding my breath about it remaining next year

THe Footy Show is a football-themed variety program. I thought people wouldve realised this by now. It's aimed at attracting a broad audience at it's prime time slot.

The 'Mad Monday' type of football program will never air during prime-time because it is not a show that will attract a broad audience, just interested footy fans. Even AFL programs with a similar format such as 'Footy Classified' and the old 'On the Couch' arent broadcast broadcast before 2230 in Melbourne.

Not entirely happy with the name of the program. Rugby League will never progress beyond a sport for neanderthals if the media (the broadcast rights holder even) keep associating it with piss-ups and shenanigans so derided by the non-football population. Fair enough, it's not aimed at them, and Rugby League is a working class game with the majority of we followers considered very much as 'bogans', and these 2 'finals' eps are probably pilots to see if the format has value in the time-slot for a season. But why not use a term or phrase from the game itself, like 'The Hit Up', or 'The Conversion'. Or perhaps something more akin to what the program is and consists of, such as 'Monday's Experts'. Let's get away from BS-associations with alcohol and loutish behaviour once teams have been elimiated from the comp.

Finally, good concept. It's been used by FTA networks for years in Melbourne with the AFL. Cameron Williams tries to keep the show moving and does it well. But Gould constantly slows it down with his self-importance. His views are great for a show like this, but he needs to keep it rolling along and not hog the soapbox whenever it's his turn.

Great show. 10.45 start was a bit late. Thought Cameron Williams was out of his depth. DT guy wasn't too bad. Gus is great to listen to.

They show just split the footy show in half and have this as the second half.

I am still yet to see the wayne bennet story that was on ABC, people that have seen it think it is fantastic.

The guy is a joy to listen to, the only couple of radio interviews i have heard from him have been riveting. He makes no excuses, and has more to give this game, then just about any other person alive or dead.

And i agree 100% on his views about how RL turns lives around, i was on a fast track to jail as a young bloke, drugs girls, booze violence ect. My coaches were the ones that taught me respect, the game taught me discipline, and the friends i made will last a lifetime. I didnt make the top grade but i have done alright for myself in business and other areas of life, it is because of League, i have no doubt, the greatest game of them all.

I've seen it ages ago and have tried to look for it a few times with no luck. It's a great show, they showed it to us in school and it affected most of us I think.

If you're really keen here is the transcript, worth a read I reckon:

10.30 is a little late. It started pretty much after Q&A which was good.

I thought the show was great. As soon as I saw that Cameron fellow I thought "here we go...", but I think he did a good job. He didn't interrupt them too much or offer his banal opinions like a lot of hosts seems to do. The journalist was largely useless so they should P him off. The Wayne Bennett interview was really enjoyable.

Not a bad show... and showed with clear certainty that the Raiders were knocked out by an absolutely ridiculously disgusting decision by Jared "Tiger Tiger" Maxwell.

I 100% agree with you, especially with the highlighted sentence. It's such a shame that Nein has treated rugby league with utter contempt, yet has pandered out to other sports such as AFL and even Union (although they will have the rights to Union from next year, I've got sick and tired over the number of times they've promoted it whilst not having the rights, such as the SBW lovefest)

No it didn't. 3-1 was the case in favour of the penalty by the panel.

Once again you show you are a knob.

Prior to showing the reverse angle which highlighted Gibbs locking in TLL's foot they were 3-1....

Once that footage was shown they all had a bit of a laugh over him getting one over the ref.

Then again no one could deny that Campo should have been pinged for crawling off the mark prior to one of the raiders try so it all evens out

What a brilliant brilliant show. Probably the best ever League show I have ever seen.

Channel Nine take a bow...and now go FU*K your selves for taking God knows how many years to get this type of show on the air. How amazing what a little threatened competition will do.

On the show itself, I thought all the panelist were great, but Roy Masters would be an inspired addition for sure.

Loved it.

That stats sh*t at the start was very tedious though, as it seemed as if they did it for the Titans/Roosters game just because it worked for the Dragons/Tigers game.

I wouldn't mind seeing a little bit more player involvement next time, it was a very weak 'interview' of Benji Marshall.
