40,871 for say 1. Fantastic crowd and atmosphere looked unreal, it may be 13-a-side but it certainly had that carnival atmosphere typical of a nines/union sevens weekend

England need to somehow fit both Sam Tomkins and Zak Hardaker into their test team, Hardaker is absolute top quality.

Absolutely. I had a thought that one or the other could be a utility in the bench what do you think is the best backline?

I'm starting to think Tomkins & Widdop in the halves with Hardaker at fullback.
Hall & Burgess on the wings, Watkins definitely one centre but the other is up for grabs.

The RFL needs to persevere with Magic Weekend. It really is turning into a major sporting event for the UK. Some 4M pounds injected into the Newcastle economy that wouldn't have, had magic weekend not been on. Hotels booked out, restaurants full etc.
Keep the format exactly as is, maybe tinker with who plays on what day to ensure big crowds over both days. But overall, keep complementing the Super League teams for remaining committed to magic weekend, and keep growing this great weekend.
Looked like a fantastic stadium on TV.

The SL would be stupid not to return to Newcastle. The one problem they have is there are only three games which appeal to the majority of neutrals and involve the better supported sides. This means one day is more attractive than the other.

I think if they keep it in newcastle for a few years there is a chance of it getting way bigger than current. It could be an even bigger social event that locals get to after the football season, if the city is made to feel like its an annual event that belongs to them.

Interms of potential the magic concept still has heaps to grow
