Magic Weekend

Its the last year of the contract this year. Hence the discussions about change. Apparently Cardiff were unhappy with the RFL due to poor marketing of the event (no suprise there).

Talk is off a big start to the season or a split event, one day in Lancashire, the next in Yorkshire. I don't see the point of that one though.

i doubt we will expand to Ireland or Scotland. There is no history of league in those countries. Ireland is bankrupt, and Scotland fans only turn up if Rangers or Celtic are playing.

We need to continue to help Wales and France.

Some good games, obviously Wire were the best. :D

The event needs some tweaking but overall it's doing OK, we need to stick with these ideas long enough for them to become a tradition and to grow in popularity.

I'd like to see it in Cardiff again but Newcastle is a good option as long as the football club is willing to let the pitch be used for seven RL matches which is doubtfull now they're back in the Premier League.

Thats the problem. If we are going to hold it over the may bank holiday or at the start of the season football clubs won't want all the matches taking place on there pitches.

Newcastle would be good, so to would Elland Road, City of Manc Stadium, Anfaild, Emirates, Millenium Stadium, Twikers, Dublin, Villa Park, Ibrox, Celtic Park, etc.

The list of large stadiums in Britain is a long one. Most of them are easy to get to.

1 Eyed: The only stadium in North Wales is Wrexham where the crusaders currently play. The Millenium stadium is the only ground in Wales really upto it.

Out of the ones mentioned, i like the idea of Twikers. Good promotion for the Quins, in London so the lazy media may pay attention. Keeps the Challenge cup as the only event at Wembley. Easy to get to.

Will the union boys will allow it. Maybe not, but money is money at the end of the day.

Of the stadia mentioned, St James' Park would be the best option by far. However, like I say it's whether or not they will pay. We can't just force cities to pay us money. I doubt the London tourist board would be as interested as Cardiff or Edinburgh, the influx of RL fans wouldn't make a massive difference to the economy of London due to the size of the place. Edinburgh does have a year's option so like I said I wouldn't be surprised to see it there again. I would also be quite happy to have the event as a single-day quadruple-header for the quarter final of the Challenge Cup, this would go some way to solving the problem of poor early-round attendances and add prestige back into the competition, as well as being guaranteed to provide tense games for the neutrals.

I'd love to be in the UK when this event was on

I'd make the trip to go to the event absolutely no problems. Wish we had a similar event here in Aus.

Very happy that Warrington are having such a good year in the Super League but so far I havent seen them come up on TV

oopss spoke too soon. Challenge Cup this weekend and Warrington feature away to Huddersfield

Should be a cracker

I actually thought it was the other way round with the Welsh tourist board/WRFU doing next to no marketing of the event so the RFL took the Jockinese money instead.

tbh i don't know. I heard it was the RFL doing none, but i did hear that in a pub so its not the most reliable source of info. :D

There was a falling out though which is why it might not go back there.
