She's a tabloid hack who knows people are in interested in the NRL so picks it as an easy target to get a readership. It's not news, just toilet paper filler. I thought teh West was poor journalism till I read the Sydney papers!

She has something against the Sharks. The amount of digging that this "woman" has done to "break" these stories is crazy.

Dig that deep at any organisation and you will find some dirt. So why stick to one organisation and drag it out this long?

yeah, lets get more women on League Club boards

why ?

just because they are women

or because they deserve to be there and they are the best candidate for the job

I dont have a problem with women, after all I married a women, but putting them on a Leagues club board just because someone in the press thinks its going to undo any bad PR caused by sex scandals is living in far away land

positions on boards should be subject to the candidates suitability, not their gender

Of course she does, she said Josh Dugan was going to be the difference in the sharks raiders match last week. I tell ya josh nearly scored a try against the first grade side too.... only problem was he ran out for the under 20's didnt he??

Oh be careful Twizzle.... check out the footy show thread.... i got lambasted last week for suggesting a similar idea. I think i mentioned that there would be little interest from females in being on an nrl board and i asked someone to find me how many people there are on nrl boards. Magnay did that for me "3". out of 114. I suggested there would be none. I was wrong. I never said women couldnt do it, i merely said there is IMO little interest from women to take up the role. Hell i work for a large australian organisation where the GM is female and her 2 direct sub-ordinates are female.

I agree they can do it, but im deadset agaisnt a "quota" of 2 females per club just to make all things equal. If they want the job apply and get voted in, dont just give them 2 token positions to be politically correct.

Hate to nitpick, but Dugan didn't actually play U20's either - he played Q Cup for Souths Logan. So you're as wrong as her on that one.

Magnay and co are obsessed with creating a league scandal where none exists. Sure, this Clint Elford saga deserves coverage, but the passive watcher would be excused for thinking the Sharks were somehow at the centre of it pulling the strings, when the truth is that they (Zappia), along with several other highly reputable organisations were swindled. Why does the coverage still centre around the Sharks and Zappia?

They were all going after the Rugby League angle from the outset, and haven't changed course even after the scale of Elford's deception has been exposed. This is way bigger than Zappia and the Sharks now.

There was a reson i left a ? at the end of it. I wasnt sure, but i sure as hell knew he wasnt playing first grade before Thursday Night.

Its even worse in her case he wasnt even at the same ground!!!

If board positions were based on suitability, as in competence to perform the responsibilities of board members, that rules out about 75% of the blokes currently on various club boards.

Having played for the club, and being mates with the chairman, don't equal suitable for board (generally, there could well be the odd exception who by sheer coincidence also happens to be competent)

hahah awesome.

there are a few arguments for affirmative action ... but the main one is that it's actually the structure of an organisation that discourages a minority participating. so if you put people in who are black/female/whatever then the whole structure can change and develop and become a kind of organisation that is more open to diversity in its employees and bosses.
