At the risk of stating the obvious, that was a lot better to say the least.

I didn't get carried away with the loss last week and I won't get carried away with this win, manly were poor it must be said but our boys took a step in the right direction.

I thought our attack was still clunky at times but I expect it to remain that way for another 6 weeks or so. Where we improved drastically, was defence, enthusiasm, effort and organisation.

Manly getting that momentum and camping down our end for 20 minutes was all due to 3 errors to start the half. We need to stamp those clumps of errors out of our game. Pleasingly, the defence was stoic and committed in that period only allowing the one try.

3 sitilli - what a player he has become
2 SST
1 Walker

Almost everyone was in the conversation for points IMO, an all round solid effort to get our season going.

Also nice to have some luck with injuries, I thought we had 2 major injuries at one stage but both joey and Watson seem fine.

I’m not getting carried away with the result either. Even in that first 30 mins period where we were dominating, Manly still looked dangerous considering what little ball they had and found holes they just couldn’t exploit. Turbo wasn’t himself and at times, DCE was a better player for us than his own team.

Halves combo did look better last night, didn’t it? As much as I was pleased/relieved with our attack, I was more impressed with our second half defence when Manly were camped in our half with a ton of ball in tricky conditions.

Great to see SST back to his damaging best. More of that please. Also pleased to see Sitill’s upwards trajectory continue.

Toops, Keary and Butcher also deserving points.

Hoping for no injury concerns for Joey, Connor and Sitiili’s HIA. I thought Rads’ first contact was on the ball and not the head?

Plenty of other good performers too. Hope we can take care of Souffs this week. They've owned us these last two years. Can't take much more of it.

If the rain had have stayed away then I think we put a score on them. As it turned out we had enough points in the bank to get the win. Starting well is worth its weight in gold.

Now, onwards and upwards to the Filth.
