One of the great NRL wingers, and one of the greatest Warriors

Nowhere near as many bad games as some want to make out, but he had a few clangers

At his best was phenomenal - did the work of a middle forward early in sets, and was a finisher as good as any... not to mention the odd thunderous hit in defence

Its a shame he wont have one more game for the Warriors in front of his fans.

He's had a good career in the NRL. He was rocks and diamonds for a while. Not a lot of people forget that game in 2007 against us he virtually gave us 3 tries from knock ons, his confidence was down but he never gave up after that game.

The corresponding game the following season he tore us to shreds on the wing.

I think 2008 was a big year for the best, he set up the Warriors win against the Storm in a semi final. Witt scored the match winner but Manu's big run set up that last try.

He was good to watch when he was on.

All the best Manu.

A few of the posts here summarise Manu and epitomise him very well.

The finger above after he scored was in honour of Sonny Fai, rest in peace Sonny, God bless your soul young man.

Yes he had the Parra clanger, but as stated above, he came back against Parramatta with a typically dominant display in the next game.

The one that stands out for me is a battle he had with Aku Uate. The media were labelling it as Aku, the best winger in the game, v his nearest rival. Manu, as was typical with his opponent on the day, destroyed Aku. I guess looking at Aku, a fair player in his own right, v Manu, Manu's longevity is amazing. He's outlasted a lot of flavours of the month.

Manu was always good for 150-200 metres per game. Usually he'd break a ton of tackles, and get many quick play the balls. He was ultra effective at getting the Warriors moving up field quickly and creating space for others to exploit. He is the only player to score 10 tries in 10 consecutive seasons. His try scoring ratio per game of 0.67 per game is only bettered by a handful of players, and this was on the back end of playing outside of the likes of Grant Rovelli for a fair proportion of his time on the wing.

Don't forget his Kiwis performances... 22 tries in 29 test matches, a good portion against dominant Australian teams.

In terms of errors, worthwhile remembering his error rate also included the attacking cross kick bombs. He made an art form for a while of bat backs for tries, if not scoring directly himself, but of course every now and then they go forward as well.

Manu scored tries that others simply didn't score. And that was usually after a mack truck full of work to get the Warriors into that position.

He's a top bloke, who is all about his community as well. He will be missed by Warriors fans thats for sure, a polarising figure but you could never doubt his commitment and effort. He ranks only behind Stacey Jones and the great Simon Mannering as far as all time great Warriors go for mine. I hope he does extremely well in the UK, seriously, if he was at his physical peak his try scoring efforts in that competition would be the stuff of legend.

I was at his debut against Souths, was just in Sydney for some reason. Two high flying clubs at that point in 2004. Didnt expect him to go on to such a career.

Entertaining player. Good luck to him. Hopefully another Auckland nines at some point for him to have one last Warriors run around

I remember it well. Appalling year that one... Manu did set up a try that day for Francis Meli, sporting an orange fro...

I had the pleasure of meeting him after a game in 2011 and he was mobbed by kids and Warriors fans. Some wingers will sleep a lot easier now.

Manu needs to learn that if he wants to win the war he needs to put in the hard yards.

Maybe he left Auckland cos he was homesick in his own home town?

It's a sad situation when a bum like Maumalo is getting selected in front of a legend like Manu. Kearney can be real disrespectful at times.

Just to speak more about his longevity, he was the only player to play in the 2005 Tri Nations final and the 2015 Anzac test. Without looking it up, he probably has the most wins over Australia in modern era as well.

Seeing him score a try and doing that is my favourite thing. Class act and shows that Sonny will never be forgotten at the warriors

Manu will go down as the best winger in the history of the warriors.

The impact he has on the young blokes at the club is immense, all the young Pacific islander boys look up to him. He's like a 3rd starting front rower, wouldn't be many games where he didn't run over 100m, and they would be the hardest metres on offer, generally play one off a kick. Pretty underrated aerially as well.

Club legend with a tonne of Mana

And he comes across as a genuine decent bloke to boot. Another personality lost to the game.

He's been injured most of this year. He played against Canterbury and came off injured. He was going to be a late inclusion for the away Penrith game (which Ken was dropped for BTW) and pulled out after yet another injury.

He's thrown himself into opponents for over a decade. Unfortunately I think it's caught up with him.
