Apparently he's a lock.

With Fulton coming back, there isn't great need for him.

Shame about Tupou though, I wish it was Brown or Daniella that couldn't come.

Just checked out the wigan website, seems to be a fringe 1st grader who has had a bad run with injuries. The only plus he is a good goal kicker

Have actually seen this guy play and he aint too bad. Will be a good bench player at best. Had alot of potential but injuries have kinda hurt his progression. As long as we didnt pay overs for him im happy but then again McIdiot probably offered him a bucket load

Flanagan is a talented 21yo who can play a number of positions - he'll go well for the Tigers.

Wests Tigers wish to clarify news on player signings for 2010.
An article in this week’s Rugby League Week claims Wests Tigers have signed one of the best young back-rowers in England in Wigan forward Mark Flanagan.
The article states Flanagan has signed a two-year deal. The 21-year-old can also play half, five-eighth and hooker.
Wests Tigers Recruitment Manager Warren McDonnell said the article was not correct.
“Mark has not signed with Wests Tigers. We have spoken to Mark and his management and have sent him a contract to look at.’’ McDonnell said.
“Should Mark sign the contract, we will announce it once we receive it. At this stage, it is just speculation.’’
McDonnell also pointed out winger Tame Tupou and former forward Liam Fulton had not been signed by Wests Tigers despite being listed in an article on each club’s gains and losses for next year.
It is just another reason why for the all latest and most accurate news on the Wests Tigers, the official website is the place to be.

Well one bit of good news. Woolnough retired today, so we won't be chasing that piece of crap.

Penrith forward Adam Woolnough retires from NRL at the age of 27

August 19, 2009 Penrith prop Adam Woolnough has announced his retirement from the NRL at the age of 27 and with a year still to run on his contract at the Panthers.
Woolnough, who played 131 NRL games for Newcastle Knights and Penrith after debuting for the Knights in 2002, made the decision to quit rugby league after losing his passion for the game.

“I've decided there are other things I want to do personally and other things that my wife Bec and I want to do together,” said Woolnough.

“I know that I'm only 27 but to achieve those goals I wouldn't mind doing it now when I am still young.”

Panthers coach Matthew Elliott said he supported Woolnough's decision to quit in the midst of Penrith's attempt to qualify for the NRL finals.

Woolnough has managed just six NRL games in 2009, his last coming in the round 21 draw with the Warriors.

“I have a heap of respect for the decision that Adam has made and the honesty in making that decision,” Elliott said.

“Adam could have continued on with the club with his heart and head not in the right place making up the numbers in the team but he made the decision to retire to pursue other priorities in his life.”

I cant believe we even showed any interest in this guy what so ever!:x

When I heard Flanagan was headed to Aus, I was pretty keen for us to get him. Being English and not being given a run at Wigan is no indication of ability. Noble is a first class idiot.

He's like a young version of Ellis. I'd take him over most in the pack.

Sounds promising, but do we really need another backrower?

westie, you watch more ESL than I do, do you rate Sam Burgess?

We don't need another back rower, wouldn't hurt to replace some of our current lot with Flanagan though.

Burgess has all the potential in the world, but he's still a very young prop. He could get targetted by big noters, lose confidence etc.

Youtube his hit on Moi Moi in 2007.

Mark Flanagan's young kid who has been killing it in the reserves at Wigan. He recently made the step up to super league level and has been very impressive. He made 52 tackles in his second game which isn't unusual for the young fella.

In recent games he's begun to find his attacking game which he is actually more renowned for han his defence.

I'm not sure if he is ready for the NRL, only exposure to the game over there will answer that question. One thing is for sure you can't criticise his ambition, as a young 20-year-old he's preparing himself for a life and hopefully career changing experience in Australia.

Sam Burgess is another matter altogether!
He will absolutely murder the Australian game and is ready now!

If you get Sam Burgess and play him alongside Gareth Ellis you will think you have died and gone to heaven.
