Well from a WA perspective it is a little bit concerning that someone with NS connections has more information than people with WA connections ... who's going to be running this team?
the nrl/arlc is. well documented.

plus what west aussie connection does that goose have anyways? cause he lives there? cause he can read the news papers like we all can but unlike the rest of us uses it to promote his secret inside info which turns out to be wrong anyways? righto.

Anyone able to access it?

cook - v'landys needs to shut up
also cook: mentions nrl every other day....

starting to see who the goose is here and is isn't v'landys.

also again its just wording. its not license fee for an nrl club, they arent paying for the nrl club. they are paying for investment into kids sports that happen to be rugby league pathways, programs and infrastructure to upgrade facilities and for stadium upgrades. article even says it.

Instead, the Government could offer support for upgrades at HBF Park, expected to be the home of the new side, as well as funding to community level sport across WA to grow the league.

these west aussie journo's are dumbos. nrl are the ones paying for the club itself. so what cookie is saying is true but the wording is key. for the record queenslander libs " pre-election: we will not build new stadiums" next minute.... cookie playing the game by denying license fee is great because it was never a license fee lol

nothing here that we dont know already.

nrl/arcl funding the nrl club itself and controlling it. tick
west aussie gov funding hbf upgrades. tick, stated as such below
west aussie gov funding rugby league pathways and development programs. tick, stated as such below.

so whats new here? nothing. @Red&BlackBear told us this literally months ago!

WA election 2025: Roger Cook rules out taxpayers’ money for NRL deal in last minute campaign revelation

The NRL will not receive a single dollar of taxpayers’ money, Roger Cook has vowed, buckling to pressure over negotiations in a last-minute campaign revelation.

Speaking at The West Australian’s Leadership Matters breakfast on Tuesday, the Premier ruled out any money being paid to the League as part of a deal.

The comments came after weeks of pressure on Mr Cook to disclose how much he would be willing to spend to bring the Western Bears to Perth as part of expansion negotiations with the NRL.

Pushed on whether spending money to lure a team west was appropriate during WA’s prolonged cost-of-living crisis, the Premier making his pitch, insisted a deal would be good for the State’s economy.

“Sport and indeed, national sport franchises are big business, and it’s a great opportunity for our economy, but not a single dollar of taxpayers’ dollars will go to the NRL,” he said.

“We want to make sure that if Western Australia is to participate in another national competition, and I think we should, and I made that very clear all along, but it has to be good value for money for WA taxpayers, and it has to be a benefit to the WA economy.”

Mr Cook’s resolve against a fee to join the league came after revelations last month that he had last-minute talks with NRL boss Peter V’Landys days before the Government entered caretaker mode in February.

At the time it was reported the NRL was demanding a deal to bring a side west could be as high as $320 million, including an eye-watering license fee of $120 million.

Instead, the Government could offer support for upgrades at HBF Park, expected to be the home of the new side, as well as funding to community level sport across WA to grow the league.

Unless there's an NRL office in WA, who is there to tell in WA now without a bid team and the NRL now taking ownership?
Prior to October information was flowing to the Cummins bid team which included NRLWA representatives and state government representatives. Now thats limited to State Goverment and NRLWA.

My point of concern was they were all blind sided on GF Day while R&BB seemed to know what actually was happening through either their NS or Queensland NRL connections.

I completely understand the NRL will be in charge from now on - who they get in and what their priorities are is concerning moving forward based on what unfolded in October.

so what its exactly as what has been said for months then.

it's not license fee.. cash is actually for junior development pathways, facility upgrades and school programs which is stated here and other multiple reports. but they are using the wording of license fee to downplay it.

government looking at upgrades to hbf. which is stated here and other reports.

nothing new. just last minute swatting away of the nrl election issue lol while cookie keeping singing it after telling other to shhhh. hilarious really.

Cookie is being a twat and using politicians double speak

Sure none of the money will go directly to the nrl

He’s being deliberately misleading

Not at all, he is just reiterating what they have been saying all along. They wont pay a license fee and they wont pay for running costs of a club. That has been their position for 2 years. They will pay for infrastructure and grassroots. Nothing has changed at all despite NRL trying to get them to pay what the consortium was offering.

So where do you see the payment agreements between the two party's before tools down.

Have they come to an agreement or is there still a void between?
Might come as a surprise but most of the discussion leading to the “tools down” didn’t revolve around figures/finances/costs.

I will say this though. When the day comes that Cook doesn’t want to do politics anymore there’s a job for him elsewhere, should he want it.

west aussie bears board? nrl in a top role? or alrc as commissioner? surely has to be one of those 3 i guess.

unless the plan is to eventually sell the west aussie bears to a cookie lead consortium when nrl/arlc put it up for sale in a decade or something lol. imagine that. anyways speculation here

Incorrect.
haha, the consortium were going to contribute $10mill to Ken Allen upgrade, now WA govt is paying it so there's at least one thing!
License fee? reports vary on that one but Cook has just slammed the door shut.
Start up costs? Id be surprised if there wasnt a cheeky ask from Vlandys.

I'm more than happy where the Nov media report on what WA govt was contributing landed if true. Its exactly what State govt should be helping out with.
