Wests Tigers have today taken a step in bolstering the forward pack for next season with the signing of tough Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs prop Martin Taupau on a three-year deal.

Taupau made his NRL debut for the Bulldogs in 2010 after being a dominate player in the NYC competition. He missed most of the 2011 season through injury before playing 10 first grade matches last year.

Woods, KG, Taupau, Sue, Buchanon & hopefully Groat. Its not Fifita & Gibbs but its definitely a step in the right direction.

Now about the back row, centre and halfback...

For his first signing Potter addresses a issue Sheens avoided like the plague

I believe Galloway was the last prop Sheens signed, correct me if I'm wrong. Jason Cayless does not count, before anyone suggests it.

That in itself is a sick joke.

Not so sure about the no knee reco bit because he did his knee in 2011 but not sure of the extent of the injury. Good signing for the Tigers. Disappointing that the Dogs didn't keep him but he won't be playing much first grade with the forwards we have. Hope he reaches his full potential in the next couple of years. Could become an important member of the NZ team in the future if he does

Finally some sense in our recruitment! We just need a premiere back rower and we may yet see a solid team. Wouldn't mind seeing another prop being signed as Galloway will prob spend next year injured again.

Its a bummer we didn't get to see Gavet have a run...hopefully next year!

Looks like things are a changing in tiger town as far as recruitment goes;

* not near retiring age
* not a small backrower
Just hope hes not injury prone like the rest of our squad

Big Marty KA-POW! Watch how much this bloke outplays Adam Blair next season... that is if Blair is still with you guys. The only reason he can't make it into out run-on side is because of how flippin' good Tolman & Kasiano are. Our loss is certainly your gain. I only wish we did more to keep him.

Ryan Tandy 2008
David Gower 2009 (left Tigers for Salford, Sheens brought him back)
Jason Cayless 2010
Ray Cashmere 2012

Good signing! Avoid halatau and Rose, and look for a big second rower with aggression and an offload. Things will then look a bit brighter
