Big buzz in the buildup and online tonight that Steve matai told his team mates last night that he's been granted a release to join us next year....

Hmmm, well, big upgrade on Nielsen, the question is what would it mean for Laumape, who I think is very good (but not close to Matai atm)

Don't really see the point with Hurrellicrane and Laomappy doing just fine with Danger and Benry to cover.
I'm not a fan of trying to fix things that aren't broken.

Yep, but Hoffman kind of the same. Two players that could really make a diff, erence

Don't see Manly releasing him. They know it would make us a better team so why would they do us a favour when they don't have to?

The question is long term Laumape or short term Matai, when IMO Matai is currently the superior player.

I think this rumour will be hanging around for quite some time seeing as he'll be off contract next year.

I think there's some health issues with his brother... He wants to come home to care for him.

I'm not bagging Manly at all.... And I think he would be a terrible signing for the Warriors... Especially considering the talent they have and he money he wants...

But when you've been part of that NRL club for a long, long time... And won multiple premierships with them... You would think that if you fronted them with a genuine reason to go home...

They would reluctantly grant it...

Matais manager is in the Manly Daily saying that those quotes from Matai are from over a month ago and that they are currently in negotiations to extend his stay at Manly

Yeah, it all seems like recycled news- then again, Hooper lead with it to Triple M

I heard this too on the drive home, seemed pretty clear there is problems on the northern beaches.

It's a pipe dream I know but i think it would be the tits if we could lure Foran across. May have to shed a few players, Neilsen and Mateo probs

Pretty confident that Foran wouldn't leave Sydney. He will end up at the Dogs with Des I reckon. Also I think Brett Stewart may be there next year too.

usually when there are significant problems within a club, the team plays shit and/or inconsistently (e.g, McLennan's Warriors, the current Cronulla mob)

Not the case with Manly... so I am unconvinced
