Sorry boys, the word on the street is that ……

33C62997-E485-4DDC-BD95-ED4E12D0D23B.jpeg
Alleged PINOPs name redacted by me.

From the above we can determine he is facing 4 counts (criminal charges), which he is contesting at hearing.

Typically success rates at hearings etc are low, an overall stat rate of 11% . Which is probably too high when you think about it as it means 11% shouldn’t even have been charged.

The AVO will follow the findings on those counts.

Then the cops have a mention, so it’s likely another charge/s are floating around somewhere and we don’t know when they could be heard.

It’s a local court hearing, it may not be reached and let’s say it’s best case scenario and it’s actually heard, the magistrate can reserve his or her decision to another date, weeks away.

Thence of course, prospect of an appeals process for the losing party.

So he’s got a bit on.

I’ve read about the nature of the charges, they are indeed quite serious.

Entitled to his presumption of innocence of course.

Now back to the game!
It's a pity we are missing Api and possibly Bula.
Got to get a good start to the season.

Has anyone had a look at ticket prices???? Holy moly, I just had a look tickets in the eastern seated area on half way are $60 each. Absolutely ridiculous for a place where you have to cue for 1/2hr to have a pee, and an hour for a beer. Even $40 is too dear at this joint. I love ctown but they’re pricing themselves out of the game. $35 on the hills and $23 for kids. I was gonna shout my grown up kids and their partners but I’ll be forking out $600+ to get the bums on a seat ridiculous, guess theyll have to park their arses on the grasses.
Even if I could go to the footy I wouldn't enjoy it as much as sitting in my recliner with a drink and some bar snacks watching the game in UHD and it costs stuff all.
I went to Suncorp Stadium once and it was like sitting in a cattle truck. Couldn't really see what was happening and I spent more time watching the big TV screen than the players.
Then trying to get in and out of your seats with no leg room to let people pass.
I don't know how a large family can pay for all of it, not just the ticket prices but food and drinks etc.

Little bit of mail that Tristan Hope will be 9 and TDS on the bench which is very interesting. Means Latu will miss out which is a shame but getting 80mins in nsw up is probably better for him

Unfortunately I think the Knights are a bad match for us. They have one of the strongest left edges in the game and we generally have the worst defensive right edge. That with us likely to be missing our fullback, both centres and hooker doesnt bode well. Luai and Galvin havent played a game together and our attack is clunky at the best of times.

If we're going to win its going to have to be a demolition from the middle forwards with May, Pole and Hunt in particular needing to get well over the top of Safiti/Leo cause after that they dont have much. Then Luai and Galvin to kick them to death and totally control field position.

I feel a win in round 1 is so important for our whole season. It will be such a confidence boost for the players/club/fans to get that first win done. Ive felt over the past few seasons we've tried so hard for that early win that we end up trying not to lose as opposed to winning and simply forget how to do it. I'm sure Jarome will help with this but he's only 1 man.

If we had Bula and Api Id probably tip us but I see too many deficiencies that the Knights can exploit and see them getting us by 2-3 tries.
Do you think Kit and Matamua will feature often this year Vic?
Now that Bateman has gone, it opens up the door and bit however the signing of Bird has put pressure back onto them, especially Matamua.

The only way Hope can play is if he's been offered a contract or wait till round 11....isn't that right???
He left his young family up north whilst he tried his hand a
In the big smoke so how is he surviving on $1200.
An interesting fact if true is that there's no limit to how many T&T players a club can register, but for those chosen to play before rd 11, they have to have an NRL contract.
My guess is that Hope will get a development contract for next year, but his age and the fact that Bud's saga hasn't been resolved will go against him.
The only other presumption is that the club has lost faith in TDS, but surely not.

Damn I was going to predict Hope would play. But I didn’t.
There was no way Benji wasn’t going to look after this guys family if he was good enough… and with the apparent risk he took coming over from odscurity as well. ..
The story will add to the fairytale rise of wt..if it happens too
TDS has a very strong personality. I wonder if it’s too strong for his own good

I like being there sometimes, I don’t feel comfortable screaming at the TV on my own, makes me question my own sanity, at least at the game there’s always someone else screaming something more stupid than I can come up with.

Great point. I’m not a fan of signing shit blokes but unfortunately it’s the way of the world now, rugby league has become a game of coke snorting gangsters bashing each other. I’m sure that there’s some young professionals still left that don’t get into, but the rest of the asses bring the game into disrepute. I’d be a big fan of banning all drug takers and fellas with convictions for serious offences (carrying a max penalty of 5 years or more) being banned for good, I’d even go for suspensions for players involved in questionable off field indiscretions. All
Contracts should have strict and easily enforceable clauses regarding good behaviour. Some of these blokes are getting paid $1m a year and can’t behave themselves. Maybe I’m a wowser but the game don’t need the side stories, and kids coming through don’t need shitheads to be their role models. Rant done.

They’re allegations atm, as I understand it.
If he is convicted he won’t get back in the NRL.
If he isn’t and he is as good as they say, clubs will fall over themselves to sign him.
It’s professional sport, if he’s legal he’s allowed and hopefully will add value to our club if we sign him.
There are plenty of deadshits in the game already, one more will not matter.

The allegations are abhorrent however if he’s cleared & hence there’s no conviction we would be in the box seat to sign him.Assuming he were to behave himself & turn the corner in his life he is that good that he’d be our best outside back

I’m pretty open minded and don’t know much about Taylan so this is not a comment specifically aimed at his situation but you sign shitheads they have a tendency to drag a team down, might do great during the honey moon period but look at the gifted lads over the years who’ve carried on like idiots they eventually have a negative effect on the whole environment. They’ll have a group of mates in the team and a group who think they’re flogs and the factions start at each other. Hard to manage it. No dickhead policy is always the best policy.

I hate this split first round but it may work in our favour giving Benji more time to settle on a starting side and to work on combos.

I posted earlier that there is a lot going on with Taylan and his matters are unlikely to be resolved anytime soon.

Even if he’s found not guilty in the long run, smug have determined he is not a good fit for them and some weight should be given to that finding.

Especially given his evident football prowess and links between the Clearys and Tyrone. Such a decision was not made lightly or with malice.

I am thinking he has many problems and we need to focus on the cattle we have.

I feel for Tyrell, but there is a much bigger picture to consider here.

That’s why clubs hire coaches and team managers.
We also have a pretty strong CEO and we don’t have to sign them for life time contracts.

I head Richo cut a fine figure at Spoonbowl shortening up the laughing hyenas.

They cowered and grovelled pretty quickly.

Got me and the dog over the line for another season of membership.

That building of DNA and public discipline can be as important as other factors.
