Give it away champ

Just remember that when he returned to league no one wanted him, saints threw him a life line, he shit on them at the end of it, didn’t have an offer and had to beg Bennett to give a him a bench spot at the broncos.

Such a shame for a guy who did what he did for our club to be going out like this.

The sooner the club tell him his spot in the club is in marketing or coaching the better.

How did Benji shit on the dragons ..He was offered $300k at the end of his contract and turned it down..(did u even know that) McGregor was coach then and the fans wanted him gone not that long after Benji left.
Benji spoke to Bennett regularly as a mentor from their time together when Bennett coached the kiwis. After Benji left the dragons he rang Bennett for advice ..Bennett offered Benji the position he didn’t ask for it ..You read a couple of snippets of news, change it to suit your opinion and suddenly your an expert
Let it go and get back to the present..Benji was the difference today (and injured) ..There’s far more pressing issues in this team than Benji ..

I thought Reynolds showed plenty in a short time out there.

There was a set of 6 in the second half where we poured through the middle. Reynolds was front and centre, picking the ball up from dummy half. With Benji we never play on the front foot because he crabs across field. Brooks has got into a bad habit of stepping back inside every time rather than accelerating.

Ruck defence in the middle was exceptionally bad. Eisnehuth and packer found out a few times although Eiso playing injured, his knee is stuffed.

On the whole it was clear that the team was playing without a lot of confidence so scraping a win today will lift spirits enormously.

The point about our attack being shallow is a valid one, I mentioned the lack of shape in attack a couple of weeks ago. I think that’ll change. I think Madge has had a real defence focussed season, he has dulled the attack trying to shape us into a side that plays percentage footy. The point being that rather than fancy attack he’d rather we hold on to the ball and try strangle teams out of the game while he is trying to get defence sorted.

I’m even more sure that Douehi will be 5/8 next year now. He throws a real good ball and looks quite dangerous up front.

Our belly was soft today Packer missed 5 tackles and looked slow, Eisenhuth looked ordinary at times too although Eisenhuth and Aloiai’s stats were quite good. Actually Aloiais were super.

I think he's really coming along at FB. He's very safe under the highball. Lacks a yard of pace is the only thing. Wouldnt be against him playing 6 next year but that would be dependent on Reynolds being moved on.

I thought Packer was particularly bad in defence and there was that loose ball he refused to dive on. Maybe he was tired from making twice as many runs as last week, but his hospital pass to Seyfarth was something we could have done without.

Two things I noticed about Reynolds, he straightens our attack and his urgency in defence increases our line speed.

I've been critical of Doueihi for not backing up through the middle, but I'm starting to think it's coaching, because it doesn't look like anyone in the side is expecting any second phase play.

Surely you jest...
He is a drastically aweful fullback.
He caught a couple today but on far too many occasions, he refuses to commit to the highball, and to the last line of defence. He is always out of position and when he chimes into the backline, he kills momentum. He Is a poor decision maker and when he makes an error, he lets it dictate the remainder of his game. He does not seem to direct the defence in any way, mainly because he is not reading the game and anticipating play. His one on one defence is substandard as is his pace.
I hope for his sake he makes it as a 5/8 because he is certainly not a first grade fullback.

We won. Aloiai is our best prop and has been for a while. Awesome player. I hope he keeps playing like that. Liddle was good. Brooks nailed that kick and a couple of others that didn't come off for us. Mbye was good. Nofo was unreal but he has some mistakes in his game. LL is an awesome edge player. He is better than Matterson on the edge.

I have no idea what to do about Benji. He had some good moments but I think he is getting exposed now. Reynolds was okay when he came on apart from that terrible run away and let them score play. I'd be tempted to give Reynolds a go at 6.

one on one defence is shit and he is slow. Happy to conceed those. Also not sure he is organising the defence so you can have that one as well.

He caught my eye last year when Souths played GF qualifier against Canberra. Was best among the best out there in a beaten side. For a 21 year old that was a fair effort

Can't agree on 'refusing to commit to the highball.'

Would love to know who you would play at FB? The Mbye experiment was a failure he was dropping bombs every week. We're not flushed with options.

Agree totally on that last point. He never pushes up to support through the middle. Im not sure where we rank for offloads or multiple passes per play the attack is really pedestrian.

We’re shit and sadly I think next year will
be worse

I couldn’t even enjoy our last win for the year cause we were so bad

That home run is awful, I have a bad feeling the wheels fall off and we lose 5/6. The only thong I want to see now is all your juniors, gets a run and some off season signings.

Is it worth sending the juniors out to get smashed by all these teams in the last few weeks?

Like I say don’t take it too seriously and just see it as entertainment..Any luck we’ll have a new coach start of next year..Prob need the spoon tho ..or maybe close will do it

then again miracles happen especially against better teams as The Hassler mentioned ..Easts are worse for wear now

And Brooks will have a week of sleeps dreaming about that kick and saving the day again next week.He will be the happiest player alive tonight. What a kick!!
Assertive as wasn’t it...He made some thumping tackles today too. He dished out some pain to some big forwards..Good on him and Liddle too

I get what you mean and i don't mean put 'em all in at once, every game but if we were winning and going really well they'd never get much of a shot. We have 6 games left. Might as well try to build for next year.

So why is next year more important than this year?
Can you imagine a coach saying.." while we have a mathematical chance of making the 8 we're giving up on that to give the young guys a go ...hope the supporters understand"

I agree with you. Madge should be trying to win games.

Gotta give some credit to the dogs..they're playing for a contract or starting position under Barret and gave it everything...they would have beaten the eels as well on the weekend. .

Leaking 28 points against the Dogs give me zero confidence against the better teams we face for the rest of the year. Scary thought what lays ahead over the next month and a bit.
Our defence is shot, at the start of the year we could defend back to back sets, now we struggle to defend any set...any where. Certainly no Harry Grant makes a big difference, but yesterday Liddle was one of the few positives.

I guess by beating the Dogs we have missed any chance of the spoon, other than that the only thing to come out of the game was two points
