Honestly thought it was a really high quality game. A few things went against us but if we were good enough we still should have won. The penalty and try before halftime cost us more then the Luai penalty imo and that was totally on us.

Yep. We can play now. We aren't though performing like a top quality team. It's not the cattle now either.

A big negative for me is Turuvas defence. For a guy who is so powerful when running the ball his contact is horrible. The bloke made Jenkins look like Eric Grothe snr, not the first time this has happened either.

He has some issues defensively but he is an awesome player.

I don't want to be harsh but I think the one obvious upgrade is dropping Doueihi. Doueihi isn't a threat with the ball. He made a good pass to Skelton for the try but he was also given space and time to create something and he doesn't have the ability. I think Benji has to drop him and play Staines.

We just need to be a little better. We are so close.

Luai was our best on ground and it wasn't close. The tackle should have not been penalised which cost us the game in the clutch, but that isn't Luai's fault. That's shit house reffing.

Truth be told though we should have been up by more before that. What really cost us was the Mason, Toa, Turuva edge defence. Cost us multiple tries. Appalling stuff.

Spot on, good post.
I was annoyed with AD not competing in those first half bombs. I am thinking that his knee reco isn't up to leaping. Just a thought.
He really is a passenger sometimes. I've defended him long enough. His D sometimes is passenger like.
We desperately need a strike centre as To'a is on his Pat Malone.

In my opinion it's the biggest issue in relation to team selections that we have. I think his defense has been pretty good this season. His goal kicking has been pretty good as well.

He just isn't a threat with the ball at all. He has lost a yard of pace and he was never quick.

There was a point late in the game where Doueihi had a tonne of space but he just doesn't have the ability to threaten with the ball. Staines might have done something then.

To be fair our biggest issue is poor discipline at critical times and I think it's mostly Api and Luai. I think Latu to a lesser extent also comes up with a dud play. Galvin was worse than all of them and we've improved since he has gone.

Here is the thing - we aren't taking our chances and we are a little bit off. Benji has to realize that we have to be perfect. Sure we'll make some mistakes but our discipline has to be the best in the comp.

Luai was our best on ground and it wasn't close.

That performance was elite. He is more creative than Cleary plus he has the ability to put in fantastic last tackle plays. His kicking game was unreal.

Ponga outplayed Luai earlier this season and I was concerned Luai didn't have those elite level performances in his game. On that performance Luai could be one of the top 5 players in the game.

I think if we don't make the 8 this season it's a disaster. We have the team to compete. We are just falling a little short regularly.

Latu was playing lock
Just reading some thoughts on twitter, what do people think of Latu staying at lock for a few games but adding to that, maybe even Mason (not sure how he would go there), but would mean Twal going back onto the bench, to see how things go?

Would basically give us 3 halves and if Mason can kick goals, may negate the need to have Douiehi in the team and they can add some extra pace to the backline.

Pezz, when you copy and paste these, before you post them, click on the "X" and delete it out and replace it with "twitter" then post it, and it will produce the video.

Example for the first one.
If anyone wants this penalised then they hate the sport really. 99% of "hip drops" are just tackles.
The rule was invented to try and stop multiple defenders stopping the ball runner and then one guy dropping straight down.

And yes I know tackles like Soro's have been pinged but it's a joke.

Good luck with the rest of the year hopefully you can push for the 8

People are pissed because it’s a penalty in just about every NRL game these last 3 years but agree it’s on the lower scale. The Jackson Hastings hip drop which broke his leg started this whole crack down, there’s been nothing even close to that since .. proving that all this hip drop bullshit is all just pure accident

It well may be an accident, but you can't do it, you can't change the rules when it suits. Did it even get a caution?
Pretty sure Galvin copped it last year, did he get time off as well?
