Another thing you notice watching Penrith live is how incredible their line speed is. They must bend the rules to their absolute limits

their line speed intensity from the 1st minute until the 80th minute is virtually the same… whoever receives the ball from 1st receiver has about half a second to decide what he wants to do otherwise he gets smashed.

(Luai) “And never will”…tick
I really hope Latu’s insipid performance was not inspired by the the “rules” Luai lays down before each game1/ I do the kicking regardless 2/ etc etc ..and his overbearing presence .. This sense of restriction and not getting it wrong next to the “great one” may be thwarting Latu’s natural game.. it’s not beyond possible… the difference with Latu compared to the last time he killed it is huge..and that was when Luai was out and AD was 6 and before that nothing much from Latu
IMO last night had mostly to do with player ability and lack of punch in the forwards .. we averaged about 30 meters a set

constantly on the back foot

no half looks good behind that badly beaten pack … swap halves for both teams and it’s still the same result

Penrith were premiership performance good yesterday. They will be hard to beat again.

If we can go on a bad run with the pressure building on Luai as captain and playmaker, maybe that’s the only way we can dispatch that homie, homie.

For sure I agree the team was shit and I’m wrapt someone has called out those forwards you mentioned , and maybe if we swapped halves a similar result could occur..but looking outside playing that top 2-3 team and looking at top 8 teams Im suggesting maybe Luai isnt the intelligent player / captain that we need....Martin said they flicked the switch when players were made accountable in the changing room.. is Luai losing his ability to influence in those conversations.. is that chain around his neck a metaphor for how he operates during what can need delicate conversations at times and just generally his approach before and during games..Does he have the tact required, as the guy that can make that difference… I wonder if deep down with all the losses hes experiencing, including origin, he’s having doubts and going through the motions....intelligence wise I’m looking at him taking the short drop out, with a gale force wind behind him with full time closing in,?the long kicks yesterday way out of reach of the wt chasers, the never ending dumb penalties and complete lack of remorse, the lack of guille around the field.. his one dimensional predictable ness …to me he’s a worry.. hopefully he’s Perth bound but I’d think Mal would see all that too

How long will it be before Turuva gets Tigerfied? Whenever we recruit new players, the Tigerfied process usually tales three months. Luai, Skelton, Hunt and Bird have passed their Tigerfied inauguration......Turuva's Tigerfication along with May's has been stunted.

Turuva is just an excellent footballer.

It's a shame he doesn't have an outstanding natural attribute whether it be size, strength acceleration or top end speed.

If he had one he'd be an Origin tier player.

our improvement as a squad plateaued from just before Easter Monday. We have not improved since then which is a great concern.
I look at the Dolphins, in just their third year in the NRL, are better than the Tigers in every aspect of the game - admin, coaching staff, playing squad, ladder position, just all round professionalism and understanding of what are the priorities to be a successful NRL team. It shows how deep seated the culture of failure, and acceptance of being shit, is at the Tigers.

I'm only laughing at this because it's true

I totally agree. Along with the May bros, and Luai all good footballers.

If the club could bring through some hardworking no frills forwards to help May out that would be great. Blokes like Garner that are just skillful would be a perfect fit. Perhaps look at UK for a couple of clever ball playing hulking forwards.

The lack of grunt and leg speed around the ruck is hurting you blokes big time.

It’s exacerbated by Api’s ordinary service, he is taking a second too long to clear the ball, it gives the defensive side a couple of extra steps every tackle. Has anyone noticed API’s tackling style and the fact that Latu has been doing the same thing, it’s like a no arms front on tackle that sort of flips the attacker, it’s been happening a lot and it’s awful, those tackles are either ineffective or allow quick play the balls and give the other team a roll on. Watch next week. These boys need to hit and stick and allow another player to get involved to get the attacker on their back

Penrith were as dialed in as I've seen them this year. As we have seen for the last 5 years or so, it is damn hard to beat a Penrith that plays like they did yesterday.

That said, our improvement as a squad plateaued from just before Easter Monday. We have not improved since then which is a great concern. If you look at Parra with a lot of no-names, they are definitely an improving side by the game. I have not seen improvement beyond Easter. We threw the ball around a great deal yesterday....but f**k, we NEVER looked dangerous doing it.

1:Turuva: Solid game from the man with some great runs which really should be putting our forwards to shame. Not a threat in the opposition 20 though.

2. Izaac: Serviceable club debut. I didn't expect much from him.
3. May: Okay second game back. He was pretty well contained this week though.
4. Toa: The Toa/Skelton side in defence is a huge worry. He has turned back into shit both sides of the ball. I'd drop him and put Douehi there next week. Hopefully his defence settles Skelton a bit.
5. Skelton: Horrid in defence yesterday. While he is worth persevering with, he is not a true first grader yet.
6. Luai: I might be the only person who truly doesn't give a f**k if he pisses off to Perth. While I have no doubt he has help lifted the standards of the playing group to an extent, he is playing nowhere near his price tag......and never will.
7. Fainu: I have to call a spade a spade here.....he was complete shit. Pretty much a ghost and it has not been the first time with him in the seven. We all know his potential. By buying Madden, it is the clearest signal that the club is backing him. He needs to back himself and get more involved. Im tired of hearing people say cliubs in our spot are playing for nothing. The rest of the season is very crucial for us to have Fainu finish the season with some confidence for 2026....we need a shitload more from him.
8. May: A usual massive effort from him. Time for us to really reduce his minutes where we can considering where we are on the ladder.
9. Api: Pretty average....Im glad we are giving him less minutes to pretty much have him fresh.
10. Twal: Twal is pretty much as honest as they come......but I don't think any other club in the comp starts him. His go forward is just not up to scratch.
11. Seyfarth: non-impactful game and has not impacted a game in a while. We need another backrower badly.
12. Sukkar: Not first grade standard.
13. Doueihi: Was ok but him being at lock really does weaken at pack.

14. Hope: No superstar by any means but there pretty much to give Api a rest and to do some tackling.
15: Bird: Is no longer first grade standard....he has played a season too long. I doubt he'd even get a SL contract.
16. Pole: He went okay....he should be starting.
17. Finau: Average.......had a few poor misses in d.

Our pack is by far our biggest issue. We need some trade movement badly there.
Ur spot on.Excellent summary.Ur certainly not on ur own re not giving a fk if the brash talking impostor Luai leaves.Unfortunately he won’t be going anywhere coz it’s inconceivable anyone else would offer him anywhere near the money he is currently on.Whats the bet he leverages his get out clause to get more money from the concord imbeciles.

The heavy reliance on ex smug doesn’t appear to be as successful as envisaged.

And the game plan shattered last night. Interchange panic and we slipped away.

We had some resilience at the start of the season, where’s that gone?

The problem is they're not ex-Penrith players anymore. They were for about the first 10 but that was washed off.

They're now fully fledged Tigers players.

Well drastic times call for drastic measures.

We can engage a hypnotist to make the players believe they are playing for the panthers.

Tape recordings of Ivan instead of Benji rubbish half time.

It won’t even matter who we are playing.

The smug memory will kick in and they’ll win by 30 every time.

And Benji, our players aren’t learning too much if you are hogging the ball at training.

We know you understandably think that real time interactive coaching is good at training. A point of difference, but it should be noted that our ugly lot can’t manage it.

it’s like trying to teach an infant philosophy. They nod like they understand, then they run outside and trip over the cat.
