What a win. We would have been flogged in the same circumstances any time in the last 10 years. Who would have thought tigers and resilience would be in the same sentence. We finished over them in fitness, desire, and defence.

Our defence was poor most of the game, we sure as shit didn't get the rub of the green, and had a few injuries. Hopefully skelton won't be out too long. But still found a way.

AD looked great on the wing and came up with 2 bone rattling tackles at crucial times.

Isn't it nice to be able run the ball out of trouble and make 60 to 70 metres a set, and convert tries that aren't scored under the posts.

Not getting too carried away because a top team would have killed us tonight. But a wins a win and I'll be celebrating it.

Wasn’t a great performance and has the Phins managed the game better we’d have been beaten. They left us in the game and when Api came back on it he gave us the class to win it.

At 18-12 we gave them several chances at a penalty goal which they didn’t take. 20-12 would have probably has us panicking and another Phins try at that stage would have won it.

Plenty to work on but we have 4 points on the board and a strong f/a, 3 tricky games ahead but if we can jag another win or two we are really in a strong position. There are plenty of worse teams in this comp than us.

The changes were in place last week. Yes, I'm may many cans deep . . . but we got ourselves a footy team here boys.
And the best part is that the 2 "key"components . . . Luai and Galvin . . . are nowhere near clicking atm.
We have resilience, pride and respect in our jersey . . . and we sure as hell know that ain't been there for the past (insert a number here) years.
Gee, it's hard not to get too excited.

And we're only going to get better as the season progresses and they play more games together.

Very spirited fight back.

A bit dodgy first half, but we stayed in it

The crowd were giving JL shite when he dropped it, just stirred him up!!

AD said post-match that Benji wanted him kicking this year, so he seems to be settled in the plans.

Bird is playing above and beyond his critics.

What did we do to deserve this?!

That was a huge win for us and it's a really good start to the season.

A couple of points:-

1. Api & Galvin haven't been great so far this season but they showed class out there today.
2. Luai in my opinion is playing like he does and he is pretty good.
3. We have the forwards to get us over the advantage line and backs to score tries. To qualify this point a bit Pole was great for us. Turuva was awesome. Every bench player comes on and gives us some impact.
4. Bula is a gun.
5. AD has been great for us. He was making tackles and kicking goals and doing tough hit-ups.

Agree, a couple of AD's ball and all tackles were just fantastic.
I still think Gal and Luai are a bit clunky, but they seem to be improving every game.
Just looked at the player stats, May had 45 tackles and 147 RM's credited, awesome numbers.

As you've mentioned early days for everyone...we were no worse than Melbourne for most of their game Thurs night or Panthers last week ...2 points with early season clunkiness is good and that Dolphins side didn't run out without a game plan and, they had a pretty good squad out there to execute it. As you said...enjoy the 2!

We are getting into foreign territory now, looking at 3 in a row, I wonder what the view looks like from up there. hahaha

Agree with what most have said, we still didn’t play great but got the win and early in the season that’s all that matters.

The first half was weird in that I thought when it went set for set we were the better team, we just kept making mistakes, giving them 7 tackle sets and got canned by the ref

Second half we cut out the mistakes, didn’t panic and chipped away at the lead bit by bit. Once we got even, and particularly 6 in front I felt weirdly comfortable, in the past I would have still been edge of the seat but as soon as we went 6 up with 10 To go I just felt like the game was ours.

i get that we’re still scrappy and people saying better teams would have beaten us might be true, but I also feel there aren’t many good teams this year, and being scrappy getting wins might be enough in a lot of games.

Either way very happy tigers fans tonight, rest up boys, you’ve event it.
