I'm just glad the club has long since identified the biggest problem at the club and have moved Heaven and Earth to fix it.

Cogger must surely have played his last match for us.

Im very interested to see who AOB picks for next game if Gamble’s back. He’s going to be absolutely destroyed by the media if he drops Cogger.

The media can suck it. They've been gassing up this absolute dud of a player for more than 2 years and it shows they never really watched the 2023 gf. That was a Chin Cleary masterclass. Nothing more, nothing less.

A lot of it is leadership or lack thereof. Frizell is quiet, Gagai isn't a leader, Ponga definitely isn't.

I honestly believe if we had say, Gamble out there tonight, things go a lot differently.

Very true. tbh even back in the Joey years we had games like this, it’s just the good ones significantly outweighed the bad ones back then.

As others noted it wasn't even the forwards that were out that were the problem. We were more than matching them in the forwards (I will note that Croker was strong today) but the spine was just horrific. No direction or structure whatsoever.

Ponga had one of those games where he looks tired of having to do everything himself. Last week he was constantly over calling Cogger at first receiver. Tonight he didn't bother.

Sharpe will be fine but made a few errors tonight. Put it down to exuberance.

Cogger, nuff said and Phoenix had a shocker.

Marzhew was the other one who was awful but his runs out of our end are so valuable to us that we just have to take the games like this from him on the chin.
Agree re the forwards. I thought Friz worked hard and the rookies all played their roles up to a standard which was admirable within expectation.

Continue to see nothing in Hetherington, though. He needed to step up, and yet offers nil every time.

When Brown comes I’d still love to be able to find a spot for Gamblor somewhere as I agree I think he adds something to the squad that nobody else has.

How would he do at lock? He’s not small but in the modern game sides are turning to smaller locks who can ball play. If we’re moving Elliott on I think it would be worth a look. Defence might be the issue though.

I'd seriously consider Crossland 7 and leave Brailey to be interchanged with Arthur. That's it for the rest of the season and maybe bring Gamble in to the 14 when he returns.

Cogger has no confidence or swagger to be a 7

I really really hope he don’t move Crossland to halfback. His future is clearly at 9 (or 14 if Arthur develops and kills it) and moving him to 7 for a year just makes him miss out on another year of development at 9. He shouldn’t suffer just because Cogger isn’t up to it. Gamble offers more at half than Crossland anyway IMO.

Can we just have one damn season without injuries? We must have the worst combined injury luck over the past 25 years in the entire NRL ffs
One of the things that concerned me before this season was that we actually had good injury luck last year bar Ponga, and that that would swing back the other way this season. I think we had the third least amount of games lost to injury or something like that in 2024.

It's been a while since we've seen Ponga be this ineffective. It's a bit of a shock but hopefully we don't see too many of them this year. It's really hard to express how bad Cogger was for us tonight. Killed everything including our spirit it seems.
Ponga tried his ass off on two periods of the match.....the first 20 minutes of the match and the last ten (when it was wasted anyway). After that 20 mins, he really did drift away, which is a concern. He did have company though.
