Surely we win this one, usually a couple of teams improve dramatically from year to year ,expecting the WT to be one of those big improvers this year.

Madge was on nrl 360 yesterday and after Madge left Kent said he “likes the tigers coz they are tough” which took me off guard..I suppose we are so close to the team that we might miss that? It was good to hear.

I have no idea about Musgrove. I'd like to see MCK get some game time. Thompson may be dangerous as well.

Still I wouldn't change the starting side. Walters also has to be there.

We aren’t easy beats like we used to be in previous years (most notably the Taylor era) and I reckon most teams have that opinion of us now. We’ve replaced soft marshmallows like Lovett, Buchanan, Grant, Woods etc with young enthusiastic forwards like Twal, Mikaele, Aloiai, Garner, LL etc. The only thing we had really going for us years ago was Tedesco basically

If we were down 16-10 years ago against that sharks outfit I don’t reckon we have the mental toughness to fight back

On Musgrove - no idea, maybe injured? But doesn’t say anything on the site

Tedesco wouldn’t fit this side.

This side is reaching up together, that’s where the dour resilience is coming from. Joint struggle. Everyone at par in some ways.

It’s why we should tear the Titans into shreds.

A team’s team, like no other in the nrl.

No spats or jealousies. No dickhead zone. Respect.

The very good sides will exploit our lack of pace out wide But with most teams we should be competitive.

Excessive speed from our opponents can often be handled with prudent positional play.

Defences hate mobility and emerging options in attack.

Almost all of our pack are strong and mobile in their own right. Id be making them spend an hour each week doing nothing but practising inside passes and stepping. Second phase play is not dead and buried.

You can’t run at a defence with a sign saying “ I’m the bloke to tackle” I know it’s tactical, but that’s always seemed a wasted opportunity to me.

Madges standard bunnies game plan has all but disappeared.

Anyway, Madge has forgotten more about coaching that I will ever know! It is really good to see him enjoying his time with us. He looks like he has a few more premierships left in him.

You make some valid points, but under the new rules player like Teddy and Turbo who were a constant danger under the old rules are now lethal. Also the Kick that turns a slow outside back around and is backed up by a lighting chase is a real weapon.

Like the spirt they showed against the Sharks, but a lot of little things went their way at crucial times. The next two weeks will gives us a better idea as the Titian’s will be fired up and I think it’s Canberra the week after

Fair points. But the titans have resilience issues.

But both games will tell us how far we should go in this mutant year. Still, all sides bear similar issues.

This photo is from last year when we got smashed into the next world.

I'm loving what Madge has done with our forward pack and our halves. He did the same thing with Souths and it paid dividends.

The luxury he had at Souths that he does not have here (yet) is speed out wide and a 90% goal kicker. Johnston, Walker, Inglis were all damaging strike players with pace and Reynolds could slot them from anywhere.

IMO we won't be a contender until we fix those two areas

Johnston should be on the bucket list. Gags remains on the outer at Souths too but the jimmy jet problem has them worried.

I wonder if Madge tells the players we need a try or two extra to cater for our dodgy kickers?!

If you were Thommo you’d be practising your kicking day and night.

We’d be crazy not to make cnk a fat offer at some point. Raiders recruitment is high order.

The 'experts' are tipping the Tigers, Tiger supporters know better though, we recall games where we could have and should have but simply didn't. Plus there's the fact that,

The Titans have won five of their past seven games against Wests Tigers.

Speed Merchants out wide are like hens teeth. And the only way we are going to get them is to gate crash the top 4/5 or maybe 6 this year.

Johnston is another beneficiary of playing most of his career outside Inglis, better than Jennings for sure but think we should be looking for better than that
