I reckon they should go for someone like Jamal Fogarty. He couldn't cost the world but is a huge upside from what they have. He is fighting to retain his spot and get re-signed by Raiders but I reckon he can play and would be a bargain quality buy for them.

No of course it's not desirable. No club wants to give players options in the player's favour.
But sometimes you just have to do something you don't want in order to sign the player you do want.

Because every star player wants to lock himself in for eight years on the cheap. If only we told him to take it or leave it, he would be stuck at our club on "$850k" (allegedly) forever! FFS ONEAIL!!!!

No of course it's not desirable. No club wants to give players options in the player's favour.
But sometimes you just have to do something you don't want in order to sign the player you do want.

And at the price you can afford. You could sign any player long term with zero player options if you paid him enough. But when 'enough' means overs then maybe it's not a good idea.
