The modern game is about managing the salary cap.

The modern game is about buying 4 or 5 of the best players in their position, filling the rest of the squad with plodders and hoping said 4 or 5 players don’t get hurt.

Melbourne, Roosters and possibly Souths are a couple of injuries away from falling down the ladder in reality.

One bad game in his, what, 8th game for the club?

But that’s okay, let’s just continue with status quo and keep selecting Marshall and Farah even though they continue to fail to deliver year, on year, on year, on year. I’m sure they are bound to come good sooner or later.

Good players make their team mates look good which in turn brings success, I have never seen this with those two. It was always Benji’s footwork when given space by Prince (surprise) and Farah scooting out of dummy half running straight, which hasn’t happened for a very, very long time.

I'm not stating let's keep the status quo. I'm just stating that Reynolds on the dollars that he is on is a massive liability to our club. It's easy to replace Benji and Robbie because they aren't on top dollars.

You make a good point about Reynolds. He hasn't played much for us at all. That is another reason to be concerned. Poor defence. Big contract dollars. Some good plays for sure but he isn't worth what he is on.

Of course that is the problem, we can not attract the best so we have to throw overs and long contracts at players who were very good but on the decline. Cleary made some terrible recruitment calls, but you wonder if he had any other choices

We would have been better with Benji there.

How do you possibly know that? Benji could just as easily have been one of our worst ...he's entirely capable of being either on any given day...last week Reynolds was one of our best. Ever find it slightly odd that there's never even one player that goes well on a day like yesterday? There's some serious over analysing going on...parra were pumped on suburban hero juice and we went out there to play a numbers game when the day called for a SOO mindset....BA won...Maquire lost...lessons learned and onto next week

Unfortunately we have to keep selecting Farah because the alternative is made with tissue and spit and gets injured when a light breeze hits him. Farah is the best we've got and he is an automatic selection on that basis.

Marshall is a fair enough call, I don't believe him to be better than Reynolds as I believe Grub has shown he can win a game for us (well go close enough, he was instrumental in the Penrith game and if our goal kicker could have hit any one of his three chances we'd have been talking about a win.) He still tried his ring out yesterday without much success.

A hooker for next year is pivotal. I am at the point where I am not prepared to wait on players any more. Liddle has waddled in and out of the rehab ward for the last couple of seasons. We need a better rounded winger option than Fonua, a better option than Jennings (who should be on the wing IMO,) in the centres and some props who will f**king aim up with Twal. Packer has been shithouse since starting again.

If Mbye does not improve, he can f**k off too. Read that he's playing with a PCL injury, if so why is he not off having it seen to?

As for Mitchel Moses...so where was he the whole of last year? Why ..just recently did parra invite him to please be gone out of here? ....who asks superstars to go find another club? He played the odd good game for us as well ..for now he's proved only that he's enigmatic..nothing more.

It's unfortunate because we went and bought him back from a club who saw him as NSW Cup standard?

Any half decent half in the NRL should have played like he did yesterday against the opposition he faced.

Fair points. Reynolds was though horrible. I agree though that you don't know what would have happened.

I agree in some ways we need to forget that game. We got roasted. It happens.

Some interesting stats from the game. Our completions were really high (at one point 19/20 yet we were down by 40), and Parra had more missed tackles than us. We conceded less errors and made more offloads.

The issue I reckon is simply lack of ticker. Set after set of absolute shite fifth tackle kicks and they would make a run and no one gave a f**k about trying to make a tackle. Pretty shameful performance. Hopefully the players get murdered in training this week as that was close to the worst we've seen from a WT side, and there's been a few!

We just have absolutely nothing in attack and when Robbie was off we looked lost.

I hear you, what's done is done and he's the best we have this year. That is all I am saying. I personally wouldn't have brought him back either but here we are. In my mind Liddle is not the answer either. Seems to be perpetually injured.

Interesting that the WT struggle in day games with teams that are prepared to play fast up the middle and then out wide, this style shows up our deficiencies and inability to not only defend for long periods but to attack and score points .

I still think Liddle can come good. He has speed at dummy half that Robbie doesn't have. He has a crisper passing game. He isn't a small dummy half.

We definitely needed another hooker. Robbie has been pretty good for us this year.

This is a good point. We can get into the grind and do okay. We lack attacking flair at the moment. If a team gets us into an up-tempo game we can't compete.

For sure and that game was a valuable and wholly accurate evaluation for Maquire ( just starting his building of madgeland has to be kept in mind)...the video will be painful for them

I got shot down on the other WT forum for saying we showed more heart under JT coached sides than that disastorious performance yesterday. Sounds like those stats backed me up.

The boys apart from about 2 or 3 looked like they couldn't give two f**ks which was strange given the circumstances

I don't think it's the guys ticker. Poor 5th tackle options and a lack of speed are big issues though. I also don't think you can murder them during the week because we looked shot. They probably need to freshen up.

They had ten days off since the previous game and came out looking anything but fresh. Yeah, perhaps you're right, but there's no excuse for how slow they looked. It was like a pub team up against an NRL side.
