Take away the first 20 minutes and we were pretty much perfect

Marsters, Mbye, Matterson and fonua all brilliant
The Unknown, I think that the first 20 minutes were not as bad as they seemed. As I said above, Don’s 1st try was purely because of his height, if they are going to retain Fonua I think he’d be better punching out if possible rather than try ing to catch those bombs.
Try 2nd try was bad defensively, it’s not as though players do not know what the over rated Cartwright is capable of and Peachy is one that should have been marked better than he was, credit though to them, it was a good try. Then they lost Reynolds and they all just lifted more.

All of the forwards went well, Brooks was outstanding with his defensive reads and tackles.
Fonua most likely retains his spot for another week but he is a worry with his handling.
Mybe had his best game, good to see him with a bloody mouth, he deserved it after his previous efforts :smirk:

Fonua finally given some space and look what he can do. And matterson has to be 5/8 if reynolds out, running the ball and attracting defenders! Great win after the early poor start.

They mentioned a stat at the start of the game, in the first 20 mins of all games this year we are something like 50 to 2! Fmd we are slow starters

I think it’s obvious Mbye had been playing injured, tonight was the 18 Moses. Seems stupid to have him playing the last 5 weeks on one leg when we have a very capable Thompson to fill in.

Quite likely but my guess is ( after 7 games) he's also learned to not have the captaincy inhibit his own game....he led by example today.

First 20 it just looked like they were tightened up by their personsl mission statements for the game. ..they just looked tense and i don't believe it was about GC ( with all due respect to them) but personal responsibility...when they finally relaxed the rythm came... the defensive effort was outstanding, structure and individually ....Brooks hit on Proctor about 10 to go was inspiring....kudos to Fanua as well...awesome! Farah played smart....great composure and decision making
Last week they didn't handle the hype of the occasion and it was just backpedalling distress the whole 80... ...Maquire handled it so onwards etc etc

it certainly was Das.
The Good
There were a few very good and as you stated 'inspiring things, the Brooks tackle above,
ybe had an inspiring game, as did Matterson.
How many sets did they hold out the Titans late in the game?

The Bad
How bad was the penalty from the kick off that Marsters gave away?
Fonua and his handling, Fonua trying to keep the ball alive when he should be holding the ball for dear life and just take a tackle.

The Ugly
Fonua and that hair !!!!!!!!!!!!

That was a great effort.

Special mentions:-

Mbye:- he plays with heart. He plays tough. He also has a tonne of ability.
Fonua:- so many problems in his game but his hit-ups are close to the best in the comp. A great effort.
Matterson:- he was great.
Brooks:- he was great. Defensively he was awesome and he led that team around.
Twal:- our best prop. Needs an upgrade at the expense of Packer and Matulino.
Aloia/Mikaele:- I think Madge is using these guys as power lock forwards. They get us going forward with damaging runs.
Marsters:- he kills me because he has so much ability but consistently makes mistakes. He was the one who gave away a penalty when he pushed Peachey back over his goal line and his loose carry and dropped ball was terrible. He still killed them out there. If he gets his game together he is a weapon.
Team Defence:- how good was that.

Issues:-
We have some dud signings. Reynolds, Packer, Matulino, McQueen. These guys take up a chunk of our salary cap and they aren't really performing great. The first 3 have had their moments but they are overpaid for what they offer us.

I saw literally 1 minute of the game and the score was 14-0 to the titans. Did they give up and go home after that or did we actually play well?

We played well. We just played hard. They were ordinary but our defence was very good.

Bit of both but I'll lean towards we actually played pretty well. In the last 60 minutes we won 30-0 and actually looked threatening with the ball for the most part.

I'm pretty sure Titans were camped in our 20 for the last 10 mins of the match and we held them out for 5 sets in a row. Amazing defense

Season best games for Mbye, Marsters and Jennings who have been the stragglers all season
