We aren't the first and won't be the last side to be dealt a tough hand. The good sides manage to play through it and if we wanna be a good side that is what we have to do.

They were great yesterday besides our usual derp 10 mins after ht.

The usual derp wouldn't have happened if the refs had their eyes open. 2 of their tries came directly from two blatantly wrong decisions.

I agree they were both blatantly wrong but really we did poorly responding to them. Neither of them put the Tigers directly in tryscoring positions.

Whilst on the topic. Luke Yates has to be in the team now. What he was doing last night lifts teams.

The important thing to come out of last nights game wasn't the referee blunders or the points scored against us in that 10mins but that we held it together and fought back and score a tough hard won victory

Worth mentioning just how good Ponga's defence is. Big men or little men in the clear he is rounding them up time and time again. Very pleasing considering all the criticism he copped from NQ fans for being frail and meek after he signed with us.

That's the thing with Ponga. Usually it is: This player is great at so and so and wonderful at this and that but he could work on ABC. Ponga's game doesn't seem to be missing anything.

Well if we're being pedantic he could work on his goal kicking. But I think Lamb will come back into the team over the next few weeks and will probably take over the goal kicking duties.

Need to give a massive wrap to Luke Yates and Ken Sio. Two uncompromising players who did fantastic work this game. And Sio last round against melb. His professional finishers are proving very decisive. Nice work to Yatesy’s first game. Came out and made some big hits that really motivated the team.

Yates should look no further than Griffin for inspiration. Both players are nearly identical in height and weight, and Brown has been trying to get him to develop a bit more of the traditional hooker skill set over the last season or two. It could be his best pathway into a regular first grade position.

What I loved about Yates was not just the inspirational kamikaze hits he put on, but pretty much every tackle sticks and plenty of times he came in low to clean up a big guy who was taken high but rolling forward post contact.

If he can keep that consistency he is a first grade player for sure.

Yates is basically a young Heighington imo. Has a similar build, not too dynamic with the ball but reliable in defence and full of effort. Could do worse than have him on the bench.

If he's going to play as a mobile forward in the middle though I would like to see him do a bit more when running the ball. At this stage he's basically a defensive specialist but doesn't really make any metres, it would be nice to get 70-80 metres and 30 tackles out of him in a game provided he gets some decent game time, he seems fit enough for it.

Heighington has 4 inches and 10kg on Yates. The closest player we have to him is Griffin.

Yates was doing the exact same thing last year. Possible ended up under the ball carrier a bit at times but defensively he was always outstanding for us. I'm surprised more people didn't notice this.

Has he bulked up more since last year? He's always had good technique and the ability to put a hit on, but he just looks that extra 10-20% more savage and impactful now. Going to be hard to keep him out of the side if he keeps playing like he did last game.

His workrate was similar. No way he hit like that last year...
