whilst you'd probably be one of few supporters that would I know for a fact that he wants to and his team mates want him to stick around also, they love playing in the same side as him.

I think Hags from what he has said thinks he is the bee's knee's as well. If he continues this form he has easily got 1 maybe 2 seasons left in him.

can someone remind me how the bonus scheme works?? isn't it 100K for each club distributed to all the 10 year players??

they reduced it up 8 years i think last year, and its something like up to 100k, not sure if thats per player though.

I have a feeling that it isn't per player but 100K per club.

You can only use the bonus once per player.

It's to stop things like us signing (for example) Hindy for 1 year, since he's been here 8 we get 100K cap free. Then just do the whole signing every year and get the 100K cap free every year.

Personally I think the system stinks!

It should be a 100k discount TOWARDS the cap for any player who has played 8 years with the same club. If you're good enough to bring them along, you deserve to have an extra 100k free to spend each year!
The only problem there is that clubs like Melbourne don't really have much devepment they can do --> but surely it'd make them look into it (having said that, they've come up with some good youngsters lately...)

2. The Long Serving Player or Veterans' Allowance - This allowance takes effect for the 2003 season onwards. The allowance provides an exemption of up to $100,000 for each Club if they have a player or players that have been at their Club for ten years since they first played grade for their Club. For the Storm, Cowboys and Warriors the player must have been at the Club since its inception.

As now changed to eight years.

it would be interesting to see how the 100K is distributed amongst the 4 players at our club.

100K isn't much in the grand scheme of things when you start looking at multiple players

it's bugger all, but the extra $1000.00 or 2 top up could be exactly what a bloke like Burty and Wags need to re-sign if it ever cam down to money, on the other hand i wouldn't imagine Caylo or Hindy even noticing that extra money in their contract

however way it's distributed it dtill doesn't make too much difference to the bottom line.

mmmm - its just a weird thing tho .... for a club I don't think it matters if u have ONE player or 5 players that satisfy the rule - its just 100K as soon as you get one - there doesn't seem to be a benefit of having many (the only benefit in having many is that if someone leaves there is another)

The $100k means we can resign at least one of the kids coming through without eating into our salary cap.

Conversly if we apply the extra 100k to finch's contract, it means we only pissed away $150k.

yes i know, which is distributed amongst all of the 8 year players.

Not necessarily - the club can choose to give the allowance to one player or split it amongst two, three or four.....

It's not really a matter of "splitting" it between players. It's not like there'd be an "8 year bonus" component to their contract.

It just means that the club's salary cap goes up from $4m to $4.1m.

exactly .... and its like this whether u have 1 or 25 players over the 8 years

the rule effectively says: If you have at least one player over 8yrs service, then you get an extra $100K on your salary cap
