Mateo set to make Eels comeback against Tigers

Parramatta star Feleti Mateo has been added to an extended Eels bench for tonight’s blockbuster clash against Wests Tigers, strongly suggesting he will make his comeback from injury.

The return of Mateo, who has been sidelined for 14 weeks with a bicep injury, would be a significant boost to the Eels’ chances in tonight’s game.

He was not named in Parramatta’s intial 17-man squad on Tuesday, and had been expected to be another week away from making his comeback.

Tigers forward Keith Galloway is expected to play despite a hand injury, with Daine Laurie and Dene Halatau training with the team yesterday as standby options.

The Tigers (six straight wins) and Eels (five straight wins) are the two form teams of the NRL, with tonight’s result sure to be crucial for the finals chances of both teams.

Wests sit in fifth position on the ladder on 26 competition points, with Parramatta one point behind in ninth place.
