What if they say next penalty is a binning and then 10 or 15 minutes later the next penalty comes? (Which is very unlikely going off this years games)
If the general application of the sin bin is used when repeat infringements of a similar nature have occurred, which have drawn a warning from the referee, then it shouldn’t matter if it’s one minute or ten.
If the referees get consistent with the warnings then a player being binned after that is fair enough.
I’d have no issue if a captain was warned and then the next infringement sent a player to the bin. It’s about teams respecting the officials position on the field.
Back chat or dissent should have tougher consequences, especially after a string of penalties.
Eventually the pressure will result in teams doing the small things right.
