Cooper was never going to play, no excuses from us.
He has been out since the All Stars match with a hamstring injury.
Emmett will most likely play in the centres.

Would be nice to have had Cooper and Costigan both fit....but there is enough 1st grade experience coming in for them to have no excuses.

wont make too much difference imho. i reckon he is past it these days.

He's nothing flash, but that's what I like about him.

The reason you never hear anything about him is because he rarely makes mistakes, especially in defence.

Still #1 defensive centre in the game IMO.

The St George Illawarra Dragons are in danger of missing two key players for Friday's NRL opener againt the Parramatta Eels.

Centre Matt Cooper is out with a hamstring complaint, after aggravating the injury in a fitness test.

Hornby meanwhile has sat out training with the Dragons due to a painful infected wisdom tooth, but is still hopeful of starting on Friday night.

It is believed prop Matt Prior could make a switch to the centres to cover for Cooper, while hooker Nathan Fien would replace Hornby at halfback.

AAP
St George Illawarra are in disarray ahead of Friday night's NRL season opener against Parramatta with Matt Cooper a definite non-starter and skipper Ben Hornby in doubt.
Cooper aggravated a hamstring injury as he attempted to prove his fitness for the Parramatta Stadium blockbuster while Hornby also failed to take part in the team's final training run in Wollongong on Thursday.
"Benny Hornby's just had to sit out, he's got an infected wisdom tooth, they're pretty painful," lock Dean Young said.
"We're confident he'll play."
The potential double blow forced coach Wayne Bennett to undertake some major reshuffling of his squad, with starting prop Matt Prior running in the centres in place of Cooper and hooker Nathan Fien deputising at halfback for Hornby.
Former Bronco Nick Emmett is set to come onto the bench, while veteran rake Luke Priddis will start at hooker if Hornby fails to overcome his illness.

Having had an infected tooth in the past, it certainly isn't a great experience. I would assume that the infection is causing him not only discomfort but a great deal of illness as well.

Can't see Lett playing in the centres.
Bronx Good would get a call up into the centres before Lett.
Goodwin came on at centre in the second half of the Charity Shield.

Yeah I had one of my wisdom teeth become infected too a few years ago... One of the most painful things I've been through. Painkillers don't help either. Get no sleep from the throbbing pain, and could only open my mouth wide enough to eat soup for 3 or 4 days. Can see why Hornby would be inclined to sit out.

Parra Pete is a bit of a fan of Lett, it appears that he just can't Lett go!!..lol
