Just on Duftys perceived poor defense, I have been playing around and looking at stats online for 2018.
I got bored and stopped at about 10 fullbacks but the results show Duftys defense is not a major problem compared the other blokes. And Dufty scored more tries than all these blokes with the exception of Holmes who scored 22 tries!
Below is tackle efficiency percentage based on tackles made and missed tackles.
Boyd 82.9%
Teddy 75.7%
Slater 73.1%
Dufty 70.3%
Turbo 69.8%
Mbye 68%
Holmes 67.5%
French 65.2%
RTS 59.1%

Boy Crush. you are going to upset some on here by quoting some facts....I bet they still don't change from their preconceived ideas about Dufty. Thanks for posting this..hope you don't mind I quoted you in the Hayne thread.

Yeah its funny isnt it. Its like someone jumps on a perceived defensive deficiency and then everyone joins in and by reading the forum you would think its real. But when you check the facts its actually not true.
BTW I forgot to include Kalyn Ponga in that list (he is an absolute gun) but 67.5% tackle efficiency, a less efficient defender than our dufty.

Agree although I think Ponga is going to be a very special player....

Great stat but what is it supposed to prove. Does it include all those times the fullback was not in the right position to defend, does it include failure to clean up kicks, how many tackles are we talking about and in what situation.

Dont be blinded by a number, it is one tiny part of the picture there is a lot more to it than just this when looking at defensive effectiveness.

Whoever was coaching/guiding/mentoring Dufty through the ranks should have paid a lot more attention to helping him with his weaknesses.

Possm what makes you think that they haven't been trying to work on his deficiencies. Maybe he is just not improving as he should be.

I dont have stats on failure to clean up kicks and when the fullback is in the incorrect position to defend. What I do have stats on is missed tackles compared to total tackles made, tries, assists, run meters and line breaks and all paint a very glowing picture of Dufty. So why focus on what we don't have? I would like to see what you have to say about the stats we do have.
Don't be blinded by your preconceptions.

Because the weaknesses are obvious when you watch the game and form an opinion based on what you see and not what a statistician tells you. Ever looked at the tackle count for players after a game and thought they're a joke. Get credited for a tackle for being third man in or flopping.

Other clubs also rate him..FACT......funny how you are selective in all your comments..lol..

Where have I been selective with my comments, I have consistently said we should not be experimenting with fullback and that the one we have has a number of weaknesses related to his lack of physicality.

You quoted only 1/2 of my reply...I quoted the other half and you still ignore it..anyway..lets agree to disagree on this one.

Pity you didn't put up a highlight reel of all the things he did that were not up to scratch. Oh wait that would spoil your one sided argument.

I bet you were not positive about Duftys selection from day 1, right? If I went back to 2017 I would find posts from you stating that Dufty wasn't the answer to replace Dugan, right? Wrong?
The 13 tries he scored this year, some of which won us games, wont change your mind right?
Funny how stubborn some people are.

I think Dufty played most of his juniors at 5/8. I think he was only moved to fullback in his late teens.

I found out a week or 2 ago that Lateral Mitchell was playing 5/8 in his teens too. Apparently one Newcastle scout saw Mitchell playing 5/8 and picked Brock Lamb ahead of Mitchell.

I think quite a few fullbacks, centres and even wingers would have played 5/8 as juniors.

Can you pull up the highlight reel of all the things Dufty did that were not up to scratch? I wouldn't mind seeing it too, but for some unknown reason, I doubt that anyone made such a highlight reel.

Here's the final point from me...Dufty has plenty of upside..yes there are elements to his game that can be improved ( just like any other first grade player ).. This year was his first full season in 1st grade...I.M.H.O he is an exiting prospect.

As a supporter of the Mighty Red V, I want to support the guy ( doesn't mean I don't understand that he has weaknesses ). We have been looking for speed in the backline for years..the highlight reel proves that...Mark my words...when he comes off contract next, there will definitely be other clubs interested in him. I hope we can keep him in the Red V and see him progress as a player.

P.S Where have I been one Sided...I have said all along that there are things he has to work on..you on the other hand give him NO Credit.
