Kennedy Re-Signs with Knights

Tuesday, July 20, 2004 - Newcastle Knights

On the back of the acquisition of Kirk Reynoldson for a four year term, the Newcastle Knights today confirmed an agreement has been reached with 23 year old forward Matt Kennedy.

A local Newcastle junior, Kennedy is one of only two players (along with Kurt Gidley) to have appeared in all 17 NRL games in 2004.

His agreement with the club is for two years which will see him in Knights colours until at least the end of the 2006 season.

Good hes a player of great courage that is turning into a reliable first grader for us, I think he will be unsurped by the guys coming up over the next two years, but he will be a credible forward by then who could get a spot in any other team.

He is improving every game, and is really starting to perform. In a couple of seasons he'll be a reliable,first-grade standard prop, and the beauty of props is that they peak when they are around 25-26.

Yep, He looks like a up and coming star.
He should find himself with a fulltime spot on the bench next year.
