Matt Scott's Mother Passes Away

Dianne Scott passed away last night from Cancer. Thoughts are with the Scott family.

I read a few weeks ago how she used to drive the team bus 4 hours to games and pick up Matt's team mates along the way in remote QLD. Which is a fitting story in Women in League Round.

Matt will not play tomorrow.

THE mother of Maroons prop and North Queensland Cowboys captain Matthew Scott passed away last night after a long battle with thyroid cancer of the throat.

Scott will not play in tomorrow night’s NRL match against the Canberra Raiders at Dairy Farmers Stadium.


Scott's mother Dianne became suddenly ill the week before Origin Game 2.
She used to drive her son and his teammates four hours to home games and up to eight hours for away games from the remote Central Queensland town of Ilfracombe where he grew up.


Cowboys players will wear black armbands in tomorrow night’s game and a minute’s silence in Dianne’s memory will be observed prior to kickoff.


Scott thanked everyone who has given him a message of support during his mother’s illness.
