They broke the rules, whether you agree with them or not - These guys knew what they were doing was against club policy - You can argue about the fairness of said policy as much as you like, it doesn't negate the fact there is a policy that was known to these players, and they went against it anyway - It's a shame that it could potentially cost us 2 competition points, but we'll be more disciplined in the long run.

I understand what they are doing and why. Seems crazy and harsh given the lack of incident, but meh. If you apply control now during the season, you just leave them more crazy after the season ends. A few drinks in another city seems what most normal people would do.

Oh well... I guess it sends the word what is allowed at Penrith. Seems odd if the Rookie has to drink booze in a manner that isn't generally sensible.

I have real problems with club rules like these.

If my employer suddenly busted out a breathalyser because they wanted me to work at 100% efficiency and few drinks the night before cuts down on that, I think I could argue a serious breach of civil liberties.

The club doesn't own everything they do.

Yeah...nah.

The clubs pay a lot of money for these boof headed dills to play footy and to abide by their rules.

As another poster noted before - if they have a problem with being paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to be more controlled than your "average Joe" then go be an average Joe, earn $60k a year and party your nuts off.

These imbeciles usually need saving from themselves.

It's not 1983 anymore where blokes turn up to train 2 nights a week after their day jobs.

Someone wants to pay me $500k a year and tell me on a weekend work trip away that I can't go out on the piss, I'll ask where do I sign up.

Yeah I'm with most people here in that I agree with the stance by the club.

Players know the rules, they get paid a bloody good wage and live a lifestyle most of us could only dream of. The fact they still break them shows that there is either a lack of discipline, or the players are just the same level of intelligence as the clowns you see on RBT half the time who don't understand the idea of consequences.

I work in a job where at any given time during my shift I could be breath tested and lose my job no questions asked with anything other than 0.00. I get paid well enough but not anywhere near what these 3 would be on.

My workplace can't stop me from drinking a night before work because they don't own everything I do. They can sure as hell enforce their own policies about me being 100% when they need me to be though.

I think Wallace is captain for the week. As I said in the panthers forum we are like the anti-broncos as far as player discipline goes, we actually expect our players to meet the obligations they have committed too, and punish them(fairly) when they fail to do so instead of just talking about it and then covering shit up like Bennett and his rich mob of underachievers. All teams would have curfews on road trips with short turnarounds the next week, the club has done the right thing and sent a strong message to the playing group, they did so last year with Peachey and he came back in the form of his life so we can only hope it does the same thing this time.

Rookies necking beers is pure rugby league, typical clueless latte sipper that doesn't know that.

I'm hopping mad at the players, especially Moylan, who fullstop should have known better.

We are trying to get our season back on track here, and having players out on curfew is a slap in the face to the club, sponsors, and mostly to the fans.

A curfew means not leaving the hotel,so I guess they could have had drinks in house or in the hotel's restaurant. (did this happen the night before the game...going by Moylan's shit performance?)

Whatever the outcome, the players are on notice.

Good move, as it's an easy way for management to look tough when they know they have a trial match this week. Would have been more of a problem for them if they were up against good opposition this weekend.

Given the old sweep sweep, fixer jazz with Cartwright this is more to put some distance from that as much as taking a stand against this sort of thing. Regardless, well done Penrith. On a side note Griffin must shake his head as what was let go during his time at the Broncs.

On this year's form we're not beating the good sides anyway. I'd argue it is worse against a middling side like Souths to go in with a patched up side.

That all went very quiet very quickly when it became clear that the lady involved might not have acted entirely 100% ethically herself. It's one thing to critcise footballers in the media, quite another to criticise a woman.
