mmm, sounded upbeat and positive. He did say they were going 'play what's in front of them', so that's better than the predictible garbage we've suffered over the last couple of years. Let's hope he's learned and we're saying hail Mary again.

Sure sounds like he's leaning toward starting with McCrone in the halves which is ominous. McCrone has a lot of experience and a reasonable kicking game attacking the opposition try line but he's not big on vision or organizing the team and he's not a quick thinker. If you look back at a few of his games last year you'd see him getting tackled with the ball far too often for a half when he had players he could have off-loaded to - sometimes when quick hands could have led to a break or scoring opportunity. McCrone and Widdop are not the way forward at all. I'd be very upset if that was our combo come round 1.

Not everyday do you see a coach answer some hard truths. That's pretty brave to rebel against the coach culture.

He wears his heart on his sleeve and is a self made man. Explains all of his success that he's accumulated in his life.

I know everyone on this forum wants mary gone at all costs but I don't mind him. The long off season has given me time to cool down and become positive again about his coaching ability. Maybe he just had a bad year last year? Let's see how we go this year. If he gets the team playing some attacking footy then at least he can regain some respect even if he isn't coach in 2018.

Funny he blamed the recruitment guys for us in 2016 and in this interview he says that he was involved in recruitment? So which one is it Mary? Typical deflection...doesn't take ownership.

Spot on.When quizzed all last year on Benji resigning he always said ' you have to ask the guys involved in retention' or 'retention has nothing to do with me'. Now its' my coaching was affected due to being too involved in retention. Just one of the many contradictions & excuses that come out of his mouth.

Sorry but I could not submit myself to having to listen to McDeflector, it's bad enough having to watch those uneasy press conferences with him and Widdop looking like stunned mullets from different oceans.

Dumbest post of the year (and will remain so), bar none.

All coaches say they're going to change things and they've learned from last year etc etc.

Fish and chip wrapping this stuff, I'll be waiting till around half way through the season to see if there is real change
