I think we all do, most of us know what Mitch is capable of if his development was fast tracked like it should of been this year.
I said that because I really see nothing in MK and hope Kearney see's the talent in Mitchell and gives him and McGuire the FG hooking duties over MK.

well it's every possiblity that could very well happen, but would you rule out Keating developing his game a to another level under SK's guidence?

No not at all, If he has a big off season he could be back in contention if his already out of it.

I guess that's why they're working on getting one...but yes, you're exactly right.

Are we actually going after Willie Tonga?? I keep wondering about this....some of your posts seem to indicate we may have already signed him :?
I'm just confused sorry if I am mistaken :)

How many spots do we have available in our likely Top 25 for next year Stags? By my count there is either one or two spots, with the possibility of Jeff Robson taking up a SL deal if we get another halfback?

There are a lot of good players we have to fill those spots in the top 25, we've got plenty of back-rowers, outside backs and halves now-especially young ones-but what we are lacking seems to be props....we seem to have fixed our halfback depth but not our primary halfback role/decided who it will be.

it's very difficult to say mate, the squads are cut in 3 groups..

top 25 (full time)

2nd tier (Part time)

NYC.

it's difficult to assess whether guys like Paki Afu, Brad Murray and Manase Manakaufoa are sitting in the top 25 or 2nd tier but assuming they are we probably have maybe 2 to 3 spots left.

blokes like Jacob Loko and Pat O'Hanlon would be training with the fulltime squad however they're definitely but of the NYC payment structure. Ken Sio I believed has moved up..just not sure to either 2nd tier or fulltime.

it's all a guestimate mate but I do know for a fact that as of late last week we had about 780k still under the cap to spend.

granted, and in an ideal world that would be great however Keats and Mitch are still under contract and unless one or both move on we simply don't have another position for a fulltime rake..this is basicaly the reason why the club shut the door on piggy.

1. No idea why you would refer to a hooker as a 'rake' in 2010.
2. No idea why you would classify M.Keating as an NRL player.

Interesting, thanks for the information Staggs.

780K?
I'm guessing about $100,000 was used up with the Atkins and Mcguire signings, maybe $150,000. So we probably still have about $630,000 to $680,000?? That is enough for a lot more depth signings or two/three big signings or one marquee signing.....could Willie Tonga and Matt Orford fit the two big signings bill?

Love ur work, u get sum good mail!

even with the maguire signing we still should have plenty of funds left for a half and mayb a centre.

Do you think reni might be on the 2nd tier squad seeing he will only play half a season? An even better signing if thats the case giving us an extra player in the top squad

I agree, unless he has a massive off season I hope he isn't anywhere near FG next year.

1) probably the same reason why you call that position hooker, it's a slang term...if we're argueing about that than life isn't as bad s you've made in the last few days buddy ;-)

2) well when he signed his extension in early 09, he was first grader, he played about 35 games under DA as a first grader, he's played a total of about 80 odd games for the club in first grade..he finished the year, as a first grader, he played a gf, in first grade...

need I go on?
