At the time it was rumored that McInnes was upset that Mary got the sack and was respectful towards the new coach Hook. When hook tolod him that he would use him in the back row, that was the beginning of the end. Not a whole lot different from the Dugan move to the Sharks, when Mary wanted to shift Dugan to the centers but Dugan wanted to play fullback which was where the Sharks used him for the majority of his stay there.
