the flag issue will be fairly difficult.

The problem being that Security Consultants set the framework and the Parra Stadium Trust advise Parramatta (after consultation with them) of the Security requirements. People have to remember that the Eels are only Leasing Parramatta Stadium so the Eels don't have Ultimate power of Veto. mind you they do have a pretty big say :)

As I mentioned previously, we need to create a Business Case for Bigger Flags and we need to use Stadium Australia as prime example.

We can't just say "oh Stadium Australia let's us do it" or "At the SFS we can do it", we should ( and I am more than happy to take on this role ) contact the relevant person/s from each of those venues and ask them for Statistical information as well.

Our major stumbling block will be the argument about the Big Signs behind us. Parramatta Stadium Trust (not the Eels) have sold those signs for ALOT of money and obviously sponsors expect a return. We would need to provide extra input about how we could control it etc etc.

Alas, it will be a battle, but one I think with the right strategy, we can WIN!! We already have support from a few Parra Officials, now all we need to do is get the "Powerhouse" to agree to support our cause.

Agreed 100%
I think all the army really needs is
-A place where we can all stand/sit together
-A permit to have big flags
This stuff about sponsors and wigs are a bit silly if you ask me.

Silly? It's a disgrace. Getting sponsored, What is this? We are trying to organise a bloody army not an excursion.

Matt,

How are you going to fund away trips or discounts from the club, with the winning from your pick the score?

I think you will find a great number of people want an army like you speak of, and some of us have tried a great many times, to be honest I am happy to see someone else with some fresh energy having a go.

You will get to a stage where you are the ultimate group where signing in the Stands happens, and when at away games we are as fearsome as when the Saints or Rabbits Travel to Parramatta, maybe even more so (reference St George Vs Parramatta Round 26 1998), but what you need is Structure, and as little politics as is possible.

Some of the suggestions brought up are great,
Code of Conduct,
Being Recognised by the Club
No Wigs
So on and So forth.

But so many of us want things to go further like
Away game busses that are at the game before the gates open so as you can see every game and leave 1 hour after the game so as fans can do the around the back thing.

Special Deals at hotels and Airlines or Bus Companies
To get a huge group going down in Melbourne, or Up in Brisbane

The Ability to work with Other NRL teams to organise areas for the Parramatta fans.
Think about this and I am sure the Brisbane fans would agree with me, an Entire Section, Just for the blue and Gold army, and it's supporters in Brisbane, hell some Broncos have said they hate playing the eels in Brisbane as it is like running out on to enemy territory.

Advertising, if we travel to Brisbane especially there are two ways to ensure people will join us, 1 is to tell everyone, and 2 is to hope they hear from this message board. A better way to tell everyone might be to get on the local morning radio or get a Map in the Courier Mail of where the eel’s fans are going to be. That in conjunction with the home NRL team could see them control crowd violence and increase revenue for there home game.

All of this can't be done on good will alone, although some of it has been in the past.

Having a sponsor for the group, will help you do more with the group, it will help you organise your Army. I ask you what good is an army if all it does is stay in its Barracks (Bay 57)

Hmmm apart from the Leagues/Football club funding any away trips (buses etc), if a all possible a sponsor who be great to keep the costs down.
Also as MITS mentioned, however the army/cheersquad is formed, trying for discounted deals on hotels etc would be a great way to get people travelling together to Melbourne/Townsville/Canberra/NZ etc

Is it an actual known fact that in the past other teams' supporter groups (the Burrow etc) have actually managed to get deals on accomodation, travel etc.. because they were an 'offical supporter group' or something?

I wasn't privy to that information but thinking about it not only makes sence but it's a sensational idea.

It is easy to get deals for supporters group like what you are intending to do.... Just contact several travel agents and see what they can do.

They might be interested taking you guys along, you just need someone who can come to a deal with them.

Colonel, Can you let us know how the meeting went?

Maybe you have and I missed it, but I would like to think a compromise will be possible and we can all get back to sitting together again next season.
Its the only way it will work properly.
At last count, Matt's "Blue and Gold Army" had about 5 signatories.
They may as well sit in the Royal Oak for the amount of people that will hear them.
We must do this together peoples.

What we DO need though is people with Parra Matts enthusiasm.

I can tell you the meeting went quite well we touched on many topics and issues and Colnel was in the process of contacting the club.

You may want to PM him to get finer details.

At this stage it was basically a framework from which to work for next season. I am hopefully going to get the chance to talk with some people today that can help further things. I was sick Monday and Tuesday last week so I was unable to follow through where we had started but I will know more this week.
