Magnificent effort boys. You beat the Storm and the men in pink.

A committed effort for 80 minutes. Still plenty of mistakes but we never gave up. Every single call went the Storm's way, only one forward pass was called and yet they had several, everything was 6 again for them, always a knock on for us.

Hayne injury is a blow but hopefully it is not too serious, he can rest the last couple of weeks of the season and is firing come round 1 next year.

Everyone did play well, not a bad performer for us. Roberts was pretty good. Nathan Smith is offering a lot more in attack than Keating.

So happy for Hindy, that win for all for him.

Our defence was great. Storm not only had 60% of the ball, they had it all in thier attacking half.

Well without him tonight we don't win, his defence was simply outstanding.

I think this is another reason why a new direction in coaching is going to be a good thing. We wont have Hindmarsh to make those try saving tackles any more so a new mindset from the entire team is going to be needed if we are going to go anywhere from next year.

If they had played with that type of effort for half of the losses we have had to endure this year they would have won three times the amount of games.

I thought it was a really nice touch putting the names of each coach we have sacked in past 10 years on our jersey.:sarcasm:

Parramatta send coach Stephen Kearney out on a winning note after beating Melbourne Storm

A spirited Parramatta have handed outgoing coach Stephen Kearney the best farewell present he could have hoped for with an upset 16-10 win over Melbourne Storm at Parramatta Stadium.

In Kearney's final game as Eels coach after he stepped down from the role midweek, the last placed Eels' enthusiasm was too much for the Storm who had led the competition coming into round 20.

However the three tries to two win was soured by another injury to fullback Jarryd Hayne, who was a late inclusion in the Eels side before being driven off in a medicab in the 73rd minute with a leg injury after falling awkwardly in a tackle.

Parramatta led 10-0 after 22 minutes in a strong opening period but after that the errors and ill discipline that have been a part of their play for much of the season began to creep back in and the Storm kept within reach throughout the game.

Hayne had a hand in both of the Eels' first-half tries, throwing the last pass for Ken Sio's eighth-minute four-pointer and grubbering through for Ben Smith's benefit-of-the-doubt touchdown in the 21st minute which was converted by veteran Luke Burt.

Despite enjoying the better of field position, an out-of-sorts Melbourne didn't cross until the final minute of the first half when five-eighth Rory Kostjasyn reached out to score and captain Cameron Smith converted for the half-time score of 10-6.

With rumours of Ricky Stuart's signing as new Eels coach sweeping through the Parramatta Stadium crowd, the second half was a dour affair until Eels captain Nathan Hindmarsh deservedly crashed over from a Chris Sandow offload in the 71st minute.

Burt converted for Parramatta to lead 16-6.

Ryan Hoffman scored for the Storm with two minutes left for the fulltime score of 16-10.

The win, just Parramatta's fourth this year, lifted Kearney's record with the Eels over his two seasons at the club to 10 wins from 42 games.

Nice to see fast ball from a hooker for a change, instead of three steps

Now I dont think Nathan Smith is a world beater, but I cannot believe we perservered with Keating as an 80 minute hooker for so long. Surely this kid would have been ideal for 20-25 minutes a game to add some sort of spark off the bench.

Just one of many reasons why I am happy to see the end of the Kearney experiment at Parra....

One of our best wins in a long time. My son and I got emotional when Hindy scored and avoided his second consecutive nudie run.

Parra!!!

Actually we've only sacked one. Kearney 'resigned'.

But for one reason or another we've had f**ken plenty of coaches since 2006. merkins are already saying Stuart will be sacked in time to coach Origin next year.

Sack him just prior to Rd 1 if it means we snag a win. Then repeat.
