WHo are the charities?

Are they figuring out how to filter the money back to the players like they did with catering?

Give me a break you fool.

All away game money raised will be given to the Make a Wish Foundation, the first home game this Sunday is the the Alana and Madelain foundation.

Wait a sec - I want to make sure I understood this right: are they donating money for every try, goal AND win the Storm rack up? Is that right? Or is it just for every win?

If it is for every point, as great an initiative as it is, it's kind of unfair to the other clubs. I mean, they'll feel guilty if they're good enough to beat them to 0 one time, you know? That's very hard to do, I know - but if it did happen, they'd have that hanging over their heads...

The breakdown:

$3,000 for a win
$1,500 for each Storm try
$1000 for each conversion and penalty goal kicked
$500 for each field goal

It'll be a minimum of $5,000 given to the nominated charity whether they win, lose or draw so it won't matter if any team holds them to nil.

This will result in match fixing. Players on opposition sides may have a personal connection with the charity involved and, consequently, will intentionally miss tackles in order to help raise more money.

Why' don't they just donate all their illegal player payments instead?

Mind you the tax deductability could come in handy.

Some mob giving $1500 to a charity is more important than your team's premiership chances on the line by deliberately by letting the opposition getting a chance of winning?

Excellent idea. Like MsStorm said, it was brought up within a couple of days after the cap cr*p broke. I read somewhere that it was Smith and the Leadership Group who came up with the idea.

But yes, of course when the administration would have heard of it they would jump on it for the PR value. But don't let that get in the way of a wonderful initiative to genuinely help out those in need.
