Couldn't care less they still display their trophies. Doesn't mean anything on the record books. Cracks me up how much it makes people sulk so I hope they keep doing it. History shows they were stripped premierships, that's all that matters imo. Media listing Smith or anyone else with 5 Premierships is kind of bizarre though, an outsider supporting that narrative makes considerably less sense.
As for legacy, best club of the last 15 years, not the best team though - 2017 would go close.
Should have won more comps is an argument worth discussing but I'm curious which ones anyone thinks they should have won. Hard to disagree on paper that they've failed in big games.
2016 & 2025 very similar, up against teams with much more hunger but still went down to the wire.
2021, Bellamy f**ked up with his team selection and paid the price with an early injury - same as Panthers 2025 really.
2018, they were favourites but in hindsight I'm not really sure why. Maybe the impact a professional like Cronk would have on a club was underestimated.
Off the top of my head, that leaves 2024 of realistic Premiership chances. Up against 3x Premiers. Not their worst loss even if they were comprehensively outplayed.
On paper two consecutive GF losses never look great. But this years' Premiership run by the Broncos is up there with some of the best unfortunately. Week 1 the Minor Premiers and underrated challengers, 4x Premiers having a comeback season of their own and then, to quote Adam Reynolds or whoever it was during their speech (and to piss off Panther fans) "the benchmark" in the GF. One of the greatest.
