Membership Numbers

Also we at Hawthorn have gotten over 50,000 members this year, but I would say that a fair number of those are fans who had fallen away from the club since the last premiership coming back now we have the Cup.

Mark, what that tells me is that the Souths management have handled the whole issue so much better than just about everyone else.

I think we realise that under the old regime, participation outside the season ticket holders was not encouraged, hopefully as time progresses we will see a move towards making the club much more "fan friendly", would be a nice move and a long time coming really.

memberships numbers are not very clear, as all clubs have different criteria.
Would it be better to have 50k $10 members, 15K $100 members, 10K STH.

numbers by themselves mean stuff all. People join the leagues club as a connection with their team as well.

Personally I would rather see people turn up to as many games as they can afford rather than spending money on memberships.

Wrong.

The more you have, of any category, has to be better than the paltry few we have atm.
I'm not saying it's the be all and end all of our income stream, but it is certainly an avenue that we need to explore, expand and begin to encourage, if we want to make the bottom line of our club more profitable.

I am a season ticket holder & leagues club member. It would be great if becoming a Football club member involves being a Blue & Gold Army membership & discounted game day/season tickets. The Eels marketing dept. could do a better job, even with there limited resources.

to avoid confussion they should call all season ticket holders members and blue and gold army members - supporters

I think Season Tickets are far more valuable to the club than plain members.

I would have thought the best idea is that to be a member you purchase a season ticket which makes you a member of the football club as well as a STH.

Hold your season ticket for 3 years and you get voting rights etc.

If we had say 10,000 STH/members - that is a guaranteed 10k at every home game. That is what we should be promoting heavily.

Yep Since Rusty came on board and in particular his "Threat" Video in February Souths have driven a great deal of memberships. I don't think they have the best packages going around but they still get them in.

I wonder if Fitzy had said in June last year, "I don't know if this club can survive in 5 years without all the fans becoming Ticketed Members" if he would still be around.

So Guys, Lets try and turn this thing on its head.

Firstly are you a Member of the Blue and Gold army or a Season Ticket Holder.

IF not, why not and how can the club improve (Provide examples, maybe from other clubs "Memberships")

If you are what swayed you towards doing so and is there anything the club can do to keep you coming back for more.

One membership should get you LC access, Season Ticket along with the other goodies that you get. How hard can that be???

So one membership to rule them all.

I think someone with some icon making talents should make up some "E-Badges"

We could have one for all the different types of membership....

B&G Army, Leagues Club, Footy Club, Season Ticket Holder, etc.....

Then depending on what we are actually members of....add them to our signatures!

They wouldn't need to be big banners, just little badge type things as I'm sure many of us are members of multiple ones.

Ive been a Blue and Gold Army member for the last 5 years or so but this year i tried to renew it 4 times before i gave up! so this is the 1st year in a while I'm not a member, it really annoyed me, i think parra needs to get its act together, i think ill buy a season ticket next year anyway.

I went to the Souths and Eels game at ANZ last year, was a souths home game and just some of the things they do for their supporters (and i hate to say this) is great, they love their supporters, they have loads of stuff going on outside the stadium and do things on the field, i think if a club wants to boost there numbers they need to follow the bunnies footsteps.

I hate to be in a complaining mood but if parra wants to boost there numbers they need to do something with the facilities at parra stadium, the toilets are so bad my wife doesn't want to come means me kids don't come either which means i only go to a few games, also lineing up for food and drinks are a discrace, every time you get a drink or food you will be away for a bout 5-8 mins without seeing the game that sux. to much footy missed, in the end i will just watch it live on TV with the fridge across from me.

Or even better just have 1 type of membership!

I agree with the frustration. The old board thought the same old people would just keep coming throught the gate without having to do any promotions. They made it harder to become a football club member than a rocket scientist! Now with the pokie taxes, all clubs are now realising the importance of memberships.

I do have faith in the new board to rectify this before next season.

Those figures are pretty pathetic, but can be improved. Seriously, Parra are a relative sleeping giant. With the right board and administration, we could get more than 15000 members in one form or another. We need to offer more flexible and varied membership packages and promote the team much, much better.

I guess good performance on the field (or the promise of it for the following season) is a prerequisite to bigger numbers, but seriously, the Roosters are a superficial, poorly supported club. That they have more members than the powerhouse of the West is a disgrace.

I am assuming the new board has detailed plans to fix this problem. As a season ticket holder and a Parra tragic (like most on this board) it is not me the club needs to be preaching to - it is the walk-up fans or casual fans who, if properly lobbied, could become lifetime fully-paid-up Parramatta Eels Fans. It is not rocket science.
