Mercyful Fate

Have any of you guys ever heard of this band? They are Danish I believe, formed in the early 1980's. I have to say that putting their unbelievable vocalist behind (a guy who has probably a 10 times more incredible range than Justin Hawkins from the Darkness) this is a band that with very little listening reveals some of the most awesome metal guitar riffs you are ever likely to hear. The lyrics are ridiculously dark to the point of being comical.

A few of you are probably aware of Metallica's medley from Garage Inc. but they do a poor imitation of the original.

Maybe Ron knows something about them!

Ahhh yes, the great King Diamond.

Seriously though, great band. His vocal range is unsurpassed in the history of the planet.

Listen to the album 'Them' which was when Mercyful Fate was finished and he was solo.

It's basically a play in which he does every single voice - including the voice of a young girl talking. It deadset sounds like a 10-year-old girl!!

Amazing stuff.

I've definately heard of the band. I haven't though really listened to them. But from what you and hevy say i should download some of there material.

I'll ask my sister if she has any old records, she has hundreds of 80's metal records that many wouldn't even know existed.

Yep. Don't have all their albums but they are up there amongst the best of the true Heavy Metal bands.
