Vs Arsenal, Barca attacking, could not score, Barca needed someone to take control and score. Take the game by the scruff of the neck if you like.

Messi the super hero? Nothing. Could not do it.

Ridiculous opinion? I think not.

Walcott came of the bench when arsenal needed something in attack. Scored a goal and caused problems creating a two goal fight back. Took the game by the scruff of the neck. Something Messi could not do.

Now we can end this thread with one final word.

ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONEY!!

Using one game as an example. Oh Wireman.

I suppose Walcott is better than Messi then? Plays in the EPL, so that's a start.

You're a fruitloop.

You said not once. I gave you an example. A very recent one.
What now, not twice?

Do you think Walcott is better? Cause i sure as hell didn't say that. Just giving you an example of how to take the game by the scruff of the neck. For the slow ones out there. ;-)

Face it, this fruitloop knows more about it than you.
Give up, your desperation is getting boring now. ;-)

It's a shame Rooney couldn't take the game "by the scruff of the neck" for United when Bayern were dominating play..

Yep, Messi's obviously never taken a game by the scruff of the neck. Ever.

FMD. You must be the only person on the planet with that opinion. The rest of us are all obviously slow.

Messi 4 arsenal 1
Singlehandedly dominated Arsenal, had his way with the Arsenal back 4, but I guess Wireman will probably still say he didn't take the game by the scruff of the neck.

Look man. He had an alright game. But I really don't think he took the game by the scruff of the neck like Rooney would.

He's clearly not even close to Rooney.

Messi as a false nine is pretty much unplayable. Follow him out and he will skin his marker and pull the rest of the side out of shape, let him go and he will turn and kill you anyway. He can escape a double-team what, maybe 3 times out of 4, which is not really shutting him down. You'd have to send three men over to him, and then if you missed him you'd be f**ked.

Nobody comes close.

I've never ever seen a player who can beat as many players as he can in limited space, his close control is out of this world. Ronaldo for example can beat a player, then run 15m and beat another player, Messi can beat 3 or 4 players in the space of 5 or 10m

Rooney is a great striker, but Messi is just a sublime and freakish footballer. Best in the world by a fair space.

Without taking the gloss off of what was another freakish performance by Messi, i still think that Barca's best player was Mikael Silvestre. I think Daniel McBreen would have bagged a couple against Vermaelen and him today.

But what about the way Messi took his goals? So often you see an average or even a good striker just hit and hope in those one on ones or smack it straight at the keeper, but Messi being the genius he is lobbed them beautifully over the keeper. And next time just to keep them guessing he'll fool them an entirely different way.

The thing with Messi is just when you think he can't do any better... he pulls this rabbit out of his hat.
