I don't understadn the sell out labels that are thrown at them at all. They have always done things how they wanted to, thats obviously what they wanted to do in the long years after black until they came out with load. It's differnt but its still great. Sure if you want to compare it to MOP or wanted another MOP then you'd be sadly disapointed. If you listen to thhe album for what it is and not what you want it to be you will see that it is a good album. Its always funny to hear the people who try to identify themselves as being cool by only being a fan of the band from MOP backwards and throw out the name Cliff Burton when describing how big of fans they are.. Some even go back to Mustain and McGovney to be "old school". Funny thing is though that the band has moved on from that to new things, some fans would do well to do the same thing. St Anger was cool, it was enjoyable but as pointed out the longevity of it wasn't there for me as it was for AJFA for example.. I am looking foward to the new album, i won't be expecting anything "old school" though...

For the record i have been a fan since 85 when i heard trapped under ice and whiplash for the first time. My favourite album is AJFA and not MOP like all the "cool" fans, i actually liked Jason Newstead and identify him with Metallica more so then Cliff (probably cause he was in the band much longer). I have seen them live 3 times and loved every time, i plan to travel around following them on the next tour (if there is one).. Its fair to say i am a pretty big fan.

I would never say they sold out
I don't think everything after AJFA is crap
I do think Lars is a bit of a wank
I didn't like wht they did with Napster and fans of the band (though i understand their reasons but geeze doing that to fans??)
No other band has influenced my life as much as Metallica

Bring on the new album !!

I'm not a fan of the sell-out tag either but then I never accused them of selling out, I accused them of becoming crap.

No band can survive for 20 years by releasing the same album 10 times but at the same time, like Bon Jovi, there's no need to become terrible either. To me, Load and Re-Load lacked all of the elements that made Metallica great and the leaders of 'The Big Four'. St Anger, well that was even worse.

The only difference between St Anger and any other crap available in your mianstream music store is that most bands remembered to 'produce' their albums. I've never heard a worst drum sound in my life.

And what the f**k is 'Tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tock'?

Awful stuff.

So Mong or whoever you can accuse me of trying to be cool by referring back to early Metallica if u want, I really don't care, but I do know that what was once a great band has become an embarrassment since their last decent album Black (which as Waltzing noted was in hindsight the beginning of the end).

LOL at Tick tick tick tock. hahaha.

what about that depressed squeeling he does on the un-named feeling!! it sounds like a mixture of Korn and a Baboon.

Surely the documentary of some kind of MOnster was enough to show you that they had well and truely lost their way.

why do people still bitch and moan about metallica, if you don't like their post black stuff don't listen to it, they still have 5 decent albums before that. Thats a lot of trash metal to listen to. Megadeth's last few albums have been crapola, but nobody cares about them.

There is a mindset to the older generation of Metallica fans that you need to understand to see why there are complaints instead of silence.

I think it's what st Anger is as Lars plays drums on the trash cans.
Zing:lol:
Have any of you cats seen the Napster Bad series on camp chaos? I recomend it, most fans of metallica (or ex fans) would enjoy it.

I didn't go that far, I listened to it a fair bit when I forst got it and tried to look for something on there, maybe I just got caught up in the fact that Lars was using double kicks again that it took a while to sink in that there was not much going on and now I can't hear it without wanting to FIX THAT F*CKING SNARE!!!

That's what happened with me.

First few times I heard it, I loved the album.

Now I hate it - I can't stand it lol.
