There are a lot of Baggers on here, myself included a times.

Most of the bagging I read on here and in other forums I laugh off due to most being blow ins and not knowing who the real metallica are.

Metallica are in the process of recording a new album, these guys are one of a few that are the pioneers of a metal style that can be incorporated by a few but yet not properly imitated by many.

Which brings me to my point, this current live performance of which is arguably one of their best songs and the word on the street that Rick Rubin the current producer of the new album has been quoted as, wanting to get them back to the Master feel!

Im excited!

i gave up getting excited about new metallica albums at about reload. it wasn't worth the disappointment anymore.

in my opinion they've continually tried to change their sound to fit in with the times.. and probably succeeded in that respect to some extent... but failed to make it actually sound good.

Good point, I somewhat agree but I have a feeling this time round.

It's pretty good, certainly a lot better than the previous untitled song I saw a month or so back where James' voice was terrible.

Well, with metalcore bands looking to thrash for a new lease of life, I bet Metallica are going the same way.....don't expect anything great though - Megadeth took two albums to get back where they are......

I think they get a lot of unfair bad press from people.. Everything from they "sold out" to everything from load onwards has been sh*te..

I strongly disagree with both.. Load and reload while different have a stack of good stuff on them. I am more then happy for them to change their sound like that and can look past that to have a listen to the actual album they have put out before us.

St Anger they experimented and it all seemed to have come out wrong (at least in my opinion). There are some great songs on it but the sound is really sh*tty..

In saying that i am going to be really happy if they put out an album that sounds as good as what a few of the new songs floating around at the moment do as it's more an old school feel..

Maybe i am different to the average Metallica fan because of my opinions but i fail to see why people want to ridicule you because you like a particular album a band puts out which quite often happens.. I Have been a fan since 86, don't particularly think they were at their best when Cliff was around, am a huge fan of Newstead and think he brought as much to the band over the years as Cliff would have. My Favourite album is AJFA followed by Load and their best song is Battery by a mile... Embarrasingly when i was a kid i kept Metallica scrap books and studied them for hours so i knew everything there was to know about them..

Asides from this album i am hanging out for one more tour.. I have never walked out anything but pumped after a Metallica concert and plan to go to 3 this tour.. If it ever happens.

The last Metallica album for mine, was less about the money, less about what the fans wanted and more about them wanting to do whatever they f**k they wanted to, regardless of the results. Even when they went on tour they played hardly any songs from the St.Anger album.

I think it was something they wanted and needed to get out of their systems. I seriously believe this next album will be there best since the black album.

Also, How anyone can say they think Newstead was great, and saying that Justice was the greatest album is just odd. There was bugger all bass on Justice.

They always have seemed to have done what they wanted..For example we wouldn't have the Loads if they didn't...

Thankfully.. They only played one here in Brisbane that i can remember and they tacked a guitar solo into it which made it marginally better.

That's the great thing about music isn't it.. We all connect to different things. Doesn't make either of us right.. For mine it's their best as i love every moment of it from start to finish.. Others have some moments where they lose me a little... None of my favorite 3 Metallica songs are on it but as a whole package it stands out above the rest...

I love the album as well, but to think Newstead made them better, when on their first album with him, they turned his guitar down, then the second album with him was considered their "Sell out" album and then came Load and ReLoad.

I love all the albums, don't get me wrong, but many would look at Newstead's time as the end of the old Metallica everyone loved and the start of the commercial Metallica everyone declared to be as a Sell Out.

Musically, Burton was the only really talented musician in the band, James has come a long way and is now possibly one of the best musicians in the commercial pop/rock/metal genre today. It's taken him a while to achieve that though.

Cliff had it all from day one, naturally gifted musician.

Newstead was a bit flat for mine, I like Trujillo though, I hope they open up the bass somewhat on this new album and show us all what Rob can do.
