I love the big guy and the day he leaves the club will be a dark day for us.

Vella and Burt are definately two guys that are never worth letting go. They must both stay.

Cayless and Graham are more acceptable releasings than these two great players.

ParraDaze: Your a goose, idiot, imbo, fool and have NFI

on Vella

THe BIG problem I have with him is that he only has 2 types of games VERY, VERY good or VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY bad.

There is no middle ground lfor him and no consistancy.

Vella is one of the most overrated front rowers in the history of Rugby league and should have a contest with the other biggest pussy front rower in Josh Perry and finally see who is the biggest Powder puff of them all.

Can Tsoulos get a run in this contest? He shows a bit of promise.

well, our fowards outplayed the "Poosters", led by Vella, who actually made 30+ tackles 150+ m and around 15 hit-ups.......(rough but close to the actual stats)

that is the sort of sh#t Vella should be doing all the time and its no coincidence that we won when he had a go in the forwards and although our pack got outplayed this week against the cowboys, Vella was ok again, but no not great???

Another thing, this is a bloke who has represented his state and country.....he should be up there with Hindmarsh for above average, consistent performances.

God...I thought I had calmed down since the weekend!!

Sometimes I'd feed Vella, other times if I walked past the bloke and he was on fire I wouldn't bother p.... well I'd keep walking anyways...

The guy has talent as evidenced the previous week against the Roosters but there has to be a switch inside his head that gets turned on only when someone remembers to do it..... :?

The best props in this league give you the same thing. Steve Price, Omeley, Webcke, they are guaranteed to give their team 20 hitups for 150 metres and 30 tackles every week.

Vella is likely to do that one week, then the week after have 10 hitups for 5 metres with 10 tackles. The last two weeks have been good for Vella, but he needs to keep doing that every week before we commision someone to build a statue of him.

he should be playing at a similar level to Hindmarsh, but i think Vella gets a bit scared or something without Cayless there.....i really do

that or the fact that our coach has run out of ideas for preparation and instilling confidence and enthusiasm in players who are of lesser quality than Hindy????

Hindy was awful on Saturday night and apart from his defence he has offered little to this team for the past few weeks aswell.

The fact he gets targetted in attack has escaped you...... every club knows he is the impetus for our attack and defence when no-one esle does their job. Difficult for the bloke to make near on 50 tackles a week and attack too.

ParraDaze, you are living in a fantasy land - Cayless would prob produce more metres with just 1 leg compared to Vella - actually ill put my neck on the line and suggest that Cayless has prob made more metres in the 8 games he played compared to Vella's whole season thus far.......

If anything we should have let Vella go and kept Jason Cayless...Isnt it coincidental after we resigned Vella, Cayless and Hindmarsh a couple of years ago for million dollar contracts Vella started playin like a dog - i think its clear his only around for the coin, which unfortunately is a real shame because he had talent to burn and could have been a real superstar.......

Welcome to the forum buddy. I agree 100%. I would rather have Jason Cayless with a bung knee and playing in stilettos then Vella.

What would you have done at the time?

I'd love to see Micky V re-sign next year, on a reduced contract. He is not the player he was, but still has a lot to offer.

I think he has been good more often than not this year, and I'd really like to see how he can perform as part of a pack that is continually getting a role, with quick play the balls. He really struggles when the game gets bogged down. Maybe he goes missing, maybe he just aint good enough for those circumstances?
