We should be sticking with Witty. He is only going to be better next year after playing with the team this year and you don't get more experience than playing week in week out.

As for Thorman i'm excited we have signed him but he is going to find our game alot more faster and physical than the league he is playing in england and will take time to come up to speed.

Here is a list of things I think [Witt] needs to work on in the off season.
1. Size - Would love to see him put on 5 to 10kg
2. Passing left handed. Big query this year. (A massive reason why Lyon did not see any ball!!!!!!!!)
3. Off the mark speed - Sure he has a great step, but would love to see him that little bit quicker.

Lyon did not see any ball in the start of the year with Dykes at 5/8! This situation only improved when Morris was moved to 5/8 and Witt came into the team. I have no concerns with Witt's ball distribution, and believe with Witt/Morris/Webster or Dunley it became a lot better than it was with Green/Dykes/Morris.

Some people say that Witt only had a few good games against lowly teams, but when you look at Dykes, he only had two decent games all year - the last couple. The rest of the time you wouldn't have fed him! I'd be more confident of Witt firing next year (even though he's young) than Dykes (who has been getting by on reputation). Throw Thorman in the mix, and the playmakers look ok...

Get off the prozac Bartman!
Dykes played less footy than Witty this year and although he is a hog and does not pass, cannot be solely responsible for the lack of ball to lyon.
Anyway I paid particular attention to Wittys left hand passing this year and unfortunately it let him down. Too balloon like, to slow, not accurate.
You would have even noticed that when attacking left, instead of going through the hands he would choose to put in the delicate little kick in behind. (This part of his game is top shelf) but not always the right option.
It all about confidence and it will come!!!!!

Mike is a superstar in the making. He will only be great.

I agee that Dykes tends to hog the ball, but late in the season (when he started playing well) we saw him play some games which were not characteristic of his:

1.) AGainst Cronulla, when he got the ball 5 metres out, 5th tackle. He feigned left, went right and put Jamie through a gap to score.

2.) Against Penrith, 5 metres out, last tackle. He Got the ball from dummy half, stepped to the right and scored under the posts.

This suggests to me that Dykesy will be a different player to what he has been in the past for us.

If not, make Morris our Lyon-man from dummy half.

The problem with Dykes previously is that he would not put his body on the line to draw and pass.
We all know that you need to draw the man first to put the guy on the outside through the hole. Maybe now he is injury free we will see Dykes commit himself to drawing the man a bit more and the likes of Lyon and Burt will see more open space.
Lets hope so anyway.

Mick has got to step up and start to take control of the game. Has to be the dominant player like Johns, Sherwin, Kimmorley, Gower are for their teams.

Whether he can or not remains to be seen, but here's hoping that he steps up and takes chances. Rather that than a halfback who is afraid to make mistakes.

Hope the kid comes good, because the #7 has always been the problem position for Brian Smith at Parra (and probably cost us a couple of premierships). But then again, we only signed up Michael Witt when Sherwin decided to stay at the Dogs.

How cant you compaire Witt to the top line halfbacks that you have named!

Johns: 206 first grade games, NSW captain, Australian Captian, Premiership winning captain
Sherwin: 105 First grade games (sat his arse on the bench for most of those games till season 2002 and 2003)
Kimmorley: 165 First grade games, NSW, Australia, Premiership winning halfback
Gower: 158 first grade games, NSW, Australia, Premiership winning captain (only became a influential halfback when the Penrith forward pack turned into a bunch of mutants)

You gotta give the kid time, put home behind a hard pack of forwards that will give him a platform to do his work. Give a painter a crap canvas, poor paints and see if he can paint a master piece.

People please, Witt has shown more promise at 18/19 years of age in 1st grade than any of the top halfbacks at the moment when they were his age. This guy will be the best since Sterling at the club.
This year was all about finding his feet, don't forget he practically went from Flegg to 1st grade, how many halfbacks could do that.
He showed he's going to have a great kicking game and his running game will only get better as he takes on defences. I've been impressed with his defence for a young bloke also.
i think many of you on here are just forgetting one important thing, HE'S STILL ONLY A KID WHO HAS SHOWN MATURITY ABOVE HIS YEARS
