Mid season Dally M predictions

Ferguson was probably a worthy winner too.
He had a pretty good season amongst a fair amount of derp. However, questions need to be asked:
1. If he's the best winger in the game, why did Fittler dump him like a truckload of faeces?
2. If he's the best winger in the game, why are the Roosters showing him the door?

I went on YouTube looking for Sam Thaiday's (shitty) stand-up routine and found this video - thought it was pertinent to share:

I think there are legitimate concerns around his influence off the park. He was probably playing good enough to get a start in Origin this year.

As far as Fittler goes, I think you are right. The Roosters, however, don't care about such things as has been shown in the past. They think he's reached his use-by date just as they did with M.Jennings and they were right.

There was nothing random about that at all... I expected it.

It happens most times at prizegivings over here in NZ... when someone gets a prize or an award or even at a graduation... their friends and family will do a haka to show love and support for them.

My f**king graduation ceremony went 2hrs over because nearly everyone who got a degree had multiple hakas done... I had 3 of them myself.. my friends, my family and my in laws...
I had one graduation in the general group (just long because of so many people) and then one on the marae (long because of all the haka and whaikorero). The worst thing about the one on the marae was that it was a hot sunny day and the awning they set up didn't cover the first row of graduates so I was sweating throughout wearing a bloody korowai.

How wrong did they get it?

RTS was a worthy winner, overall and for fullback of the year- obviously a lot of class in his category with Ponga, Holmes and Tedesco.

Ferguson was probably a worthy winner too. Again, a lot of great players in the wing category.

Mitchell obviously should have won the centre prize. Ramien too, I think, should have finished ahead of Leilua.

Munster ahead of Widdop? I can live with that.

I can live with Brooks and Fifita.

Cook is a no-brainer.

I would have thought everyone in Jackson's category was ahead of him.

Taumalolo, fair enough.

So really, they only cocked up centre and second rower.

Yeah RTS deserved it, I figured once Ponga didnt play the final game I thought RTS would win as his game against the Raiders wouldve got points.

The fullback category was an interesting one, other contenders like Tedesco and Holmes had good years but in the end it was basically between Ponga and RTS.

Ferguson is an interesting one, I mean not many wingers have had a standout season but Blakes consistency earned him the trophy.

The halfback was interesting one, I thought Brooks at the start did really well, but other contenders like Cleary, Cronk probably werent good all year round.

But yeah the centre and 2nd rower, you look and think were others better and most people would say yes.

Perhaps because Jackson polled more points than any other 2nd rower, I dont know.

I like to know when they started this rule that if you're the highest polled played in that position you get that position of the year, I know in the past that didnt matter but one year Carney and Thurston got equal 5/8 of the year.

I thought it was the highlight of the Dally Ms, considering there weren't many.

Made the night a lot better and well done of the Kiwi blokes in the audience for doing it.

There was an interesting post on the Supercoach FB page.

In Round 23 Tommy Turbo finished the game with 3 tries, 2 try assists and made 5 line breaks yet couldn't nab a Dally-M point.

Manly didn't win the game but still......you don't see stats like that very often.

Sam was nervous and his material not all that good but he showed himself to be a brave man. Stand-up comedy has to be the hardest thing in the world to do, especially when no-one laughs at your jokes.

Yep. I reckon stand up comedy is much harder than being an air traffic controller, performing complicated heart surgery or even living in poverty in Africa.

He got 3, even though his game was fairly average. Average metres for a fullback, one try assist. It was known by that time that he was one of the favourites. Still, I don't suggest he wasn't deserving, they were just making sure. Ponga, and Pearce as well, must've got an awful lot of points in losing Knights efforts.

Maloney didn't get a point after round 12, I think there were a couple of games there where he was instrumental for us, especially the last round against the Storm. He was never a show, though, playing injured as he was post-Origin but I thought he'd improve on his 17. Even more amazing is that Cleary only polled one point after round 2. He was injured and missed seven or eight games, but its a bit peculiar that neither of our halves could score points over a period where we won 6 of 12 games.

As others have suggested, I'd like to see the system changed to every player getting a score out of 10 every game. Maybe the winner will be the same, but points further down the list will more accurately reflect actual performances and less reflect hype.
